Most people don't wear masks for many months.....I have spoken to people in Texas and the South and mid west and masks are seen as a silly nuisance yet cases keep going up...
As explained multiple times.... non-surgical masks stop outgoing transmission (over75% effective), they do very little in blocking the receipt of a virus (under 15% effective). N95 masks are used to stop incoming particles. Proper use makes them effective for reducing the risk of a user from inhaling incoming viruses. Very useful in hospital environments. There is no gymnastics involved - these are straight-forward facts
Well if 100 people are wearing masks but they are all on top of each other at a gathering shoulder to shoulder then masks reduce risks but the measure is overridden by the close proximity of people for prolonged periods of times. Passing people in the grocery is not the same as being shoulder to shoulder in protests, rallies, family gatherings etc..
I'm not arguing the effectiveness of masks and distancing, but it was blatantly obvious that the health agencies were being jawboned by the WH to put out a narrative to anyone who was paying attention; I mean, they still are getting their arm twisted on the numbers. It's why I started listening to other countries' agencies myself instead. The mask advise did appear to be strategic initially but could as well have been spin from having pushed misinformation earlier.
Well -- if dirty cloth masks are a problem then use the paper toss-away masks. Like many people are doing already. I will also note that states that implemented mask mandates saw significant drops in COVID cases after the mandate was instituted.
I just read a Local San Diego judge put an injunction on the state from shutting down restaurants... pending a trial. so... now we may be getting to the spot I wanted to see anyway. Our Imperial Benito Newsom is going to have to start answering some questions with some data hopefully. And hopefully the courts will say a governor can lock down for a few weeks... but for longer than that... the legislature is going to have to make laws based on data.
n95's have guaranteed penetration protection and make a conformable seal around your face. That doesn't mean a high density face mask can't protect you against frontal respiratory droplets, especially against a virus that hates absorbing surfaces. https://www.calpaclab.com/blog/does-your-mask-work-against-coronavirus/
Are they tossing them away every time they see a new person? Like medical professionals? I took my son to the ER, the doctor wore a mask and a shield until she concluded my son did not have Covid symptoms. Then she took off the shield.
