    So you can't show anything.

You always say it is absurd, but of course you would. It doesn't fit the narrative.

If you say a respiratory virus like COVID has long term effects we need to be especially careful about, then you have to show that these long term effects are more serious or more severe than the long term effects from other respiratory viruses we have been living with forever. Because if you can't, then the obvious question is "why now??"

But logic isn't your strong point. Only emotion with you.

  2. The problem is that it is a NOVEL virus which means it spreads fast, can infect millions in a few weeks and the amount of people who can become sick, need hospitalization, require longer term care, take up isolation space in hospitals, etc could be quite large.

The idea that people don't die in large numbers means we should ignore it and not do a vaccine is really stupid. Cannot tell you how many health care workers are putting in longer hours, having to turn away patients because wings are being isolated for infected patients, equipment ran out in some areas etc...

We are in December and a majority of this country social distanced, wore masks, reduced travel, avoided large gatherings and we still got 10-12 million cases that we know of (not counted those who were not tested but still sfollowed CDC guidelines so did not become a spreader).

If chicken was making millions of people sick and 1-2% were dying, woudl you just keep selling the chicken and tell people to ignore even if hospitals get large amounts of peple coming in with food poisoning and have to be admitted? No, you shut down the chicken operations, tell people to stop using it until it can get under control and most likely destroy a large number of chickens. No one would say that we should ignore the sick because fataility was so low.

COVID can spread like wildfire and cause far worse issues if we ignored it. The only reason we have the number of cases we do and deaths is because most people played it safe and still do. the surges are coming from gatherings of idiots rather than going to the grocery or gym (see the NY study on contract tracing where 75% or more is traced back to gatherings which shows business are safe when we follow the rules, individuals are idiots).

I don't think any argument here is that we should ignore it. Perhaps I'm wrong and someone said that somewhere. If so, they are an idiot.

No, if chicken was making millions sick and 1-2% of people were dying, we would ban chicken and life would go on appropriately. The Chicken industry would (rightly) get clobbered. But we would make sure we knew it was the chicken before we did so. I'm not sure this is a comparison we can use for COVID.

The NY study (I didn't see it) would be interesting. This in a state that had the most severe lockdowns and regulations/business closures.

Of course these "America’s Frontline Doctors" drive the idiots in MAGA World.

While MAGA World sounds like a contender for the world's worst theme park, it's actually a bunch of reality-deniers who think COVID is a hoax yet demand the vaccine they wont take be named after Trump.

MAGA-world may resist the vaccine, but it still wants Trump to get credit

Trump’s supporters are praising the president for the vaccine while arguing against getting the shot — a preview of the difficulties going into 2021.

  5. It was an interesting study although maybe limited but was meant to prove that business can function with the right protocols and are not responsible for increased spread of the virus. No need to shut down completely...simply scale back % occupancies when shit flared up.

Restaurants and gyms are not the same as a bunch of mental idiots in Sturgis hanging out en masse without protections or large family gatherings with not a care in the world or a typical White House super spreader event.

You chance of getting Covid at a good restaurant or gym following CDC guidelines and you social distancing and mask wearing was less than 1% or almost nil because those that caught it probably ignored the above. Almost all of the places listed in the study were extremely small with respect to % of cases except for large social gatherings against the better judgment of the CDC and medical experts.

Is that why NY economic numbers are so hopelessly dismal now? Because "business can function with the right protocols"?

Or protests, of course. Can't forget protests.

Ok. I'm honestly not worried about getting it. So I go on with my life. You're not going to see me at bars or massive house parties or the like because I'm too old for that shit.

But I'm not going to curtail my life because of panic overblown by media and whoever else has an interest in the narrative. And short of you showing me clear data that says me or my family is at risk for prolonged or serious illness, you're not going to change my perception of it no matter what you say.

White House Official Recovers From Severe Covid-19, Friend Says

Crede Bailey spent three months in hospital with disease

Friend created GoFundMe account with details of illness
A White House official who fell ill with Covid-19 in September is recovering after three months in the hospital, though he lost his right foot and lower leg in his battle against the virus, according to a friend.

Crede Bailey, the director of the White House security office, was the most severely ill among dozens of Covid-19 cases known to be connected to the White House. Bailey’s family has asked the White House not to publicize his condition, and President Donald Trump has never publicly acknowledged his illness.

Bailey’s friends have raised more than $30,000 for his rehabilitation through a GoFundMe account.
The White House declined to say whether Trump has contributed to the effort.

“Crede beat COVID-19 but it came at a significant cost: his big toe on his left foot as well as his right foot and lower leg had to be amputated,” Dawn McCrobie, who organized the GoFundMe effort for Bailey, wrote Dec. 7.

Bailey is now at a rehabilitation center and will be fitted for a prosthetic leg in the coming months, she wrote.

“His family has staggering medical bills from a hospital stay of 2+ months and still counting in the ICU and a long road ahead in rehab before he can go home,” McCrobie wrote Nov. 13, when she created the account. “When he does make it home there will be major changes necessary to deal with his new, and permanent, disability.”

Two people familiar with Bailey’s situation confirmed that McCrobie is a friend. They asked not to be identified because Bailey’s family has tried to keep his illness private.

McCrobie did not respond to messages and White House spokespeople declined to comment. Efforts to reach Bailey and multiple members of his family by phone, e-mail and social media have been unsuccessful.

After this story was published, McCrobie updated the GoFundMe page to advise Bailey’s friends to ignore messages from journalists. “Per Crede’s wishes, please let the media tell their story without your input,” she wrote.

Bailey’s office handles credentialing for access to the White House complex and works closely with the U.S. Secret Service on security measures. Bailey was known on the compound as a strong Trump supporter.

The president has repeatedly minimized the risk from Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, both before and after he was hospitalized with the disease Oct. 2-5.

Doctors are still learning about the extent to which the coronavirus can damage the body, but loss of blood flow is one possible consequence. The virus is known to attack the vascular system and can cause deadly blood clots.

When she created the GoFundMe account, McCrobie wrote that “Crede will NOT be happy I’ve done this as he is a proud man who is the first to help everyone else but would never ask for help himself.”

She updated the post Dec. 7 with more details about his condition. He “is blown away by your generosity,” she said to donors.

“His house will need to be renovated to accommodate his disability; ramps to get in/out of the house, the bathroom shower will have to be modified, handrails will have to be installed, etc. etc.,” she wrote.

He’ll also need a new vehicle that can accommodate a wheelchair and that can be modified so the gas pedal can be operated with Bailey’s left leg, she wrote. “I could go on and on but you get the picture - there are a lot of adjustments ahead!”

Sounds like something that happened because of diabetes, not COVID.

Do you have stats on the number of amputations from COVID patients with co-morbidities?

With hundreds of millions sick, there has to be some empirical evidence to support this theory, right?
