If the left has decided to stoop to this level of pandering you must go all the way. Next press conference Joe must come out wearing a loincloth, some face paint, bone in his nose and chuck a spear across the audience. Afterwards a nice sitdown dinner with some Harold's Chicken straight from the Southside of Chicago, and all the fixings. Wash it down with some cool brews, Colt 45 maybe, light up a Newport and clear the table for a game of the dozens. If you're going to be this insulting to your voting block, go big.
Can we rest assured that the left will never again complain about a staged photo OP? Never have so many stooped so low, all for a vote.
And no politician will kiss a baby ever again. I'm sure the left would be happy to if the right did also. You can be sure what happened was some nerdy black staffer said hey, this would be a neat idea.. I never agreed with any of the appropriation bollocks anyway. I had some sympathy for the Maori when they complained that corporations were trademarking Maori words as brands in New Zealand when they could not do the same with simple English words but otherwise just fuck off about corn rows and scarfs. Its just fashion cycles. Remember when everyone was appropriating Crocodile Dundee?
It's always been my belief that culture appropriation is needed for a multi cultural society to grow and prosper. The whole virtue signaling of it all is just the typical political gamesmanship. Would be nice if all sides decided to work together rather than just take whatever shot gives them the political edge. We can waste more time with the chicken or egg argument of who started it all, but the fact is until some true leaders step up from both parties, bury the hatchet and work together towards a common goal, this divide only gets worse. I see no leaders in either party even remotely capable or even considering that.
Virtue signalling is a very new word, like since 2013 and like the Dunning Kruger effect it is one of those that really fits but is also a problem as it can be applied and misapplied too broadly. It has become a tool of the right to attack goodness as well as hypocrisy. I have a couple of things I talk about here regularly, my hospice work and my ranger work. I have done a lot more in my life but they serve to illustrate points. Am I virtue signalling about the hospice work? If so then how is self-sacrifice and public works as a good thing in the world promoted? We will always appropriate culture though some things are genuinely meangful and should be left. Some just an arsehole being briary. I recall a couple of years back being in and Irish pub (run by an American from Boston) and feeling a drink on the menu a drink called an "Irish car bomb", crushed can of Red Bull upside down in cranberry and vodka, was distasteful and ignorant but to younger Irish people who don't remember the bombs not bothered. Anyway they renamed the drink at some stage after, I was not the only one though that was beyond the pale. Ah hell, I have to go and fix a car anyway, these days working with my hands is the only thing keeping me sane. I'm too old to enjoy my newly acquired ultra high net worth wealth. (Republican virtue).
