This is true, but considering what Obama came in to vs Trump and the fact that Trump is on pace to add another $8 trillion if he gets elected again when he promised to eliminate the debt in 8 years. Not saying Obama's increases were good, just saying... Both sides don't give a god damn what happens after they leave office and apparently we the people don't give a shit about our children.

The argument that both sides don’t care isn’t true.

The deficit to gdp ratio is really what counts. Bush handed off debt to gdp of almost 10%, Obama got that down to 3% and Trump came in 2018 at 4%.

Historically, we should be at or below 2%. Trump changed the trajectory of the ration from declining to increasing —— during a time when he inherited a strong and growing economy with full employment.

People look at this issue from an elementary level, like everything just resets when a new president is inaugurated, but they inherited an economy and a budget on a trajectory and it takes time to move it one way or another.

Obama did a very good job in deficit reduction and restrained spending. It took a while because of the extensive damage he inherited from Bush and the republicans controlling the government for six years.

Trump, on the other hand, along with Ryan and McConnell absolutely damaged the country with their foolish tax scheme.

Going forward, watch the ratio. Trump will have us at Recession level deficits and when the inevitable recession hits, hold on to your hat because we will be so deficit heavy we will not be able to respond as needed.

If you are going to remain clueless about the economy and the cause/effect of certain actions you fully deserve to be taxed to the hilt paying for what has largely been a Republican created debt and social programs issue. Obama was elected when your economy and stock market were crushed in a historical way. Every intelligent economist knows you need to spend your way out of a bad recession ( or worse ), but when the economy stabilizes you reduce spending. So many of you on here just don't get it, there just is no context to your numbers, you blame politicians that inherit huge problems then blame them when it's not all perfect in your country 6 months later.

I'm no Obama fan, I see his performance as mixed and he caved too easily to lobbyists and Republicans. However, Bush was an absolute disaster to your country and Trump is showing every sign of also being close to being as bad a disaster too. You and others need to drop this partisan bs and look at what really is needed and stop demonizing those who tried to right the ship and tackle the absolutely massive social program issues your country has. The clock is ticking on real solutions and Trump is wasting resources and time on grandstanding ideas and destructive policies. Trump's trade policies are harming millions of people already and it prematurely slowed the late cycle growth in the economy. Trump's spending far in excess of what is needed at full employment but even worse he mostly spends it on the wrong things. Until Americans truly recognize the federal debt levels and the coming social program costs, anyone reasonable in government will be hamstrung getting something done.

That being said, perhaps Americans deserve what is occurring because it reflects on priorities chosen and some people will do very well under these policies. I just don't think you'll have a stable, safe country if so many citizens struggle moving forward. And your kids will start to resent you if you just pass on all these headaches including federal debt to them.

Hah. I accept the findings of the special counsel with the understanding they are imperfect. We all must move on. This is subject to review of his total report.

As to you being confused, you are a sucker for all of the reasons already listed throughout this thread.

But the fact that you are returning here after three weeks shows just how badly your little feelings are hurt. I am sorry to have hurt your feelings so badly.

Let me give you some advice, if you’re going to be stupid you better be tough.
