Indeed. It has been our national bird for 240 years? We beat the Nazis to it! Just like the Hindus beat the Nazis to the swastika by, oh, 3000 years? It is all silly nonsense!
I'd be shocked if that holds in this next election after bone spurs, Mattis's departure and Trump kissing up to Putin after it came out that Putin was paying bounty to Taliban to kill U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Mind you Putin has good reason to want to do this, and now with his man in the White House he knows he can get away with it. I don't think the Troops and their families are going to like it though. My guess is that Trump's support from the military will be luke warm, at best, this time around. Besides his "crippling" bone spurs, Trump presumably started with ten toes. Seems he's shot all but one or two off at this point. Every time the man opens his mouth his ratings drop.
The Romans have the US beat by quite a bit. Probably the people they lifted it from before that. Franklin's turkey would have been a lot better for the US.
Bullshit. Eagles are graceful and majestic raptors, very efficient at what they do. Turkeys are just really huge vicious swans that shit all over your lawn, scratch it into mud, make a lot of noise, eat all the bird food you put out for the songbirds, and are generally unpleasant. No wonder it was discovered they was good eating and were adapted for Thanksgiving feasts...They were too annoying to let live. Elmer Fudd that fowl. Edit: There is one thing that is quite impressive...If you happen to startle them in just the right way, they can fly 20 feet up into a tree in the blink of an eye. Quite a multidimensional experience to see and hear them do that.
