Have any of you guys been following desktop prices lately ?
I bought a Dimension 3000 back in January with all the goodies and a 19 lcd for $1140 and it came with a $50 mail in rebate. I priced the same computer with the exact features down to the 3.00 processor yesterday and now the price is $1434. So what is up with the 30% jump in price ?

you'd have to take into account coupons codes that you can use. the system you punched in probably wasn't taking into account any of the current promotions. one that i just used knocked off something like 500-600 off a 1400+ system.

I did it online and even added to my shopping cart and it knocked off $150 and $80. Here it is cut and pasted from my cart. The total is still $344 more than what I paid for the same exact system back in January.

Try this site for deals on Dell. Although they put up a note today that Dell says they are going to stop putting out the coupons at least for the Home side.

  5. At that price, you are better off with the Dimension 5100 deal that includes the 19" 193FP monitor for around $800. That deal expires today, so let me know if you need help locating it.

I already bought a computer back in Jan and paid $1090, I was just wondering why the price jumped so much for the same EXACT computer that is 9 months old. That 5100 deal has a slower bus speed, and a 90 day warranty is a joke. Mine came with a 4 year warranty at home.

I used the link that you guys provided for the 5100 and this is what the total is. The only thing is the coupon had expired. So it looks like it would had been about $950 with it.
