I was doing a search yesterday and I found a thread or post, that I can't find now for some odd reason, that was talking about how nasdaq only computes the indices every few seconds not continuously. Can someone tell me what the dealio is with this? Also if this is the case, how does a person get a real time NDX or COMP number. I seem to recall that some quote providers build their own indices in real time, am I right? My chart software can export to excel, could I theoretically build a real time index doing something with Excel (assuming my provider doesn't have the above feature). I have never used MS Excel, btw...
