As outlined earlier and in this NY Post article -- action is being taken against these three universities by the Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) group because the universities failed to follow the U.S. Supreme Court decision regarding admissions by race. Hence Princeton, Yale and Duke are back in court cases again. Particularly telling are some of the statements from the universities. For example from the article: "Princeton University’s school newspaper boasted that their incoming class breakdown was “untouched by [the] affirmative action ban.” However, the percentage of Asian student enrolled dropped from 26% to 24%, according to the student publication." “It is likely that universities that did not have a decline in the [percentage] of racial minorities are using a proxy for race [in the admissions process] instead of direct racial classifications and preferences,” Blum, the legal strategist who brought the case that overturned affirmative action before the Supreme Court, alleged to The Post. Using another proxy for race in the admissions process to bypass a U.S. Supreme Court decision and to actually further punish a particular race is obviously an issue that will be legally addressed. At other schools which clearly followed the U.S. Supreme Court decision the results are very different - "At other schools, such as MIT, the percentage of Black, Hispanic, Native American and Pacific Islander students in the Class of 2028 dropped to 16%, compared with 25% in the prior year. Meanwhile the percentage of Asian students climbed from 40% to 47%." Even the universities in the Supreme Court case agreed what the expected result of the decision would be - “Our experts concluded that the elimination of race would cause a significant decline in the enrollment of African Americans and Hispanics and a significant boost to Asian Americans and to a lesser degree whites,” Blum explained. “That wasn’t really disputed by either party.” It is fairly clear anti-Asian bias is still happening in university admissions - College admissions consultant and Command Education CEO Chris Rim thinks anti-Asian bias in the admissions process is still happening. “Asian students are unable to obscure their racial identity on their applications because of their names —in many cases, top schools can easily determine which students are Asian and continue their practice of unfairly rejecting them in order to manufacture diversity,” he explained. Duke University in Durham N.C. is local to where I live. Basically their approach to admissions IMO since the court ruling seems to be "we will do whatever we please -- and ignore the courts". Duke is also in trouble for ignoring court rulings on legacy admissions.
The SC's ruling says race can still be a factor in admissions. There are multiple ways to achieve diversity without using race.Schools like Yale,Duke and Princeton are doing so,other schools are standing by to see what method works best.Despite the current setback diversity will be achieved as I doubt any school wants their campus to look like The University of Beijing with nothing but good test taking robots.
That's a racist statement. Asians are individuals with hopes and dreams, not robots. They happen to have higher median IQs than whites and blacks.
Feb. 25, 2025, 11:15 AM CST By Curtis Bunn Shareholders of Apple voted Tuesday against dismantling its diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, rebuffing a conservative think tank’s recommendation. The vote at the company’s annual meeting was highly anticipated, as many major companies have dissolved their diversity programs in the wake of President Donald Trump’s executive orders forcing federal government agencies to abolish DEI programs. But Apple did not acquiesce. Before the vote, Apple shareholders faced a proposal from the National Center for Public Policy Research, which said recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings have raised significant legal concerns about DEI programs, including an uptick in DEI-related lawsuits that led to companies scaling back or dissolving the initiatives. It contended that Apple’s DEI platform could make the company vulnerable to litigation from workers. The final tally of the vote was not disclosed. Apple responded to the proposal in its opposition statement by saying it was “unnecessary as Apple already has a well-established compliance program and the proposal inappropriately attempts to restrict Apple’s ability to manage its own ordinary business operations, people and teams, and business strategies.” The same conservative group asked Costco Wholesale to report on the risks of maintaining its diversity and inclusion initiatives. The membership-only retailer’s shareholders voted strongly against the proposal at a meeting in January, with 98% of shareholders striking it down. “We owe our success to the more than 300,000 employees who serve our members every day,” Costco Chairman Hamilton Tony James said. “It is important that they all feel included and appreciated and that they transmit these values to our customers.”
I expect this will go just as well as the Trump administration hotline to deport your neighbors. Today's hint - Elon Musk has made comments supporting DEI in the past. You can call both the DEI and Deportation hotline to complain. No doubt he was replaced by a DEI student. Affirmative action should have been gone but, they just changed the name to DEI. Same discriminatory practices. They also, did away with the SAT scores to hide the fact that those they have admitted have low SAT scores. Asians have been discriminated against because they are that good academically. Also, add to that the lie that Asians are rich. Most Asians are not rich contrary to the lie being perpetrated by the left and is the prime reason for violence against Asians in the US. One guy who died from being assaulted violently was an old Asian guy who was picking up empty cans to recycle and get a few dollars because he lost his job in a restaurant. Are there rich Asians? Of course there are some. The same for rich Americans, rich Europeans, etc.
Research outlines that DEI programs like diversity training can in fact be harmful. According to one study by researchers from Harvard University and the University of Tel Aviv, trainers commonly report hostility and resistance from employees who feel forced to do the training and threatened by what they see as reverse discrimination; it also says the programs can often leave trainees feeling more hostility towards other groups. This is exactly the problem with many diversity programs in the workplace. They start are the premise that white men are the problem and are responsible for all of society's ills -- and the training just goes downhill from there.
I think I will take a trip to Target today. A 40-day Target boycott starts today. It couldn’t come at a worse time for the company Target is facing a 40-day consumer boycott starting Wednesday over the company’s shift away from diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies. https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/05/business/target-boycott-jamal-bryant/index.html
