I use Raxco Perfect Disk. You can pick it up occasionally for $10 AR at Amazon.

Try Diskeeper. I think they have a free trial. Best defrag utility I ever used. Set it & Forget it.

  5. What's wrong with the one Microsoft provides in Windows?

Thanks for the link. I am trialing it. My newest setup has a need for speed, maybe the faster disk access technology will be a good thing. Set and forget is the best way to go. I have a philosophy about computers: I want the little @#%^s working for me not the other way around.

Nothing. It's a form of Diskeeper Lite.

Diskeeper and Raxco PerfectDisk are probably the 2 best on the market.

I have MS disk cleanup & defrag icon created on my desktop.

    Weekly pc maintenance steps:

    1. disconnect from internet
    2. backup data
    3. disable anti-virus
    4. do disk cleanup
    5. do disk defrag

    Hope this helps!

  9. Exactly... Keeping the icons on your desktop or in your Start menu. Paying for defrag utes seems silly to me.
