Do you guys here consider a trade as a single execution like an opening of a position or is a trade a round trip deal like an open and closing of a position....

  2. You buy, 1 trade. You sell, you close an open position with another trade. You buy 500, you sell 500, you traded 1000 shares in two transactions.

I think it's used both ways, depending on the context.

    Thank you Don.
Long ago in my position trading days when i made few transactions,I considered a trade as a round trip transaction.

"You buy 500, you sell 500, you traded 1000 shares in two transactions"

yes thanks for answering what was going to be my 2nd question!

I consider it as a roundtrip, but it is really just semantics.

Do you consider going to the store and get groceries as one trip or two? There is your answer. :)

On a second note, let's complicate it: Let's say you average in 3 times and sell it at 2 prices. Is that 1 trade or 5?
