Decreasing transaction cost, How?

Hi,

I am developing an ATS that scalp ticks and hence my strategy is highly spreed sensitive.

Any ideas how to lower the transaction cost as much as possible.

other than rebates and using a ECN brokerages.

How the high frequency institutional traders overcome the spreed, commission, slippage, errors,...?

 

They have seats at the exchanges or get special high volume discounts.
