  2. daniel - can I have the software run in a test mode for testing automatic strategies? This is one aspect that I like in Ninjatrader but I've been impressed with what I've seen in TradeProject.

  3. One additional question Daniel - I couldn't figure out how (or if it is possible) to get a backfill from IB on a given security - does the software support backfill?

  4. Just downloaded the latest build of Quant Edge and Quant Solution. Quant Edge is pretty unremarkable - plenty of better solutions out there. Quant Solution is their backtesting solution - seems, again pretty primitive, although it has a similar approach to say, Rightedge.

TradeProject has a lot of potential.

  5. Hi droskill,

In the current version TradeProject only get a backfill for the current day. Backfill for more than the current day will follow soon. With that I will also add some back testing functionality. Today it is only possible to trade against the paper-Account of IB for testing ;(
But as I said, I’m just working now on these features. In the next version I have changed the display for the settings away from property-grids to the ‘classical’ view in property-sheets. Some users have problems to find where to modify settings – so I have changed that.
You can always access most of the functions through the context-menu (right mouse click). Furthermore there were much more functions available for strategies (because I develop my own and need more and more new functions for that), but I do not have them documented somewhere. So I you need a special function for a custom indicator or you strategy, please let me know. Maybe it is already available, but not documented?
If you have any other question or need some assistance please let me know, I will surely (try to) help.

    Good Trades,
    Daniel

  6. Daniel - thanks for the feedback - as I said, I think the software has a lot of potential. There are two indicators I use a lot:

    1. Chandelier Exit - switches from long to short when price exceeds a multipe of ATR, where the stop is hung off of the highest high.

    2. Z-score - basically something that shows the standard deviation of the current chart to +2/-2.

Let me know if you need more information.

    Thanks again!

  7. I'm a programmer myself and my apps tend to be very bare-bones to get the job done. i.e. my GUIs don't look pretty.

I have to say that TradeProject is the nicest-looking free front end I've seen. I'm looking forward to future releases.

    Good job.

  8. Hi droskill, hi stevegee58

Thank you both for the compliments – I’m happy if you enjoy TradeProject :)

Droskill: I will see if I can find some more information about the Chandelier Exit and the Z-score. Maybe I can add them for the next release – I will let you know.

TradeStation 8.4 works OK. Feed IB data through Owndata 2.6 into TS.

Remember though, IB has pathetic history AND chokes down data requests. You will get constant pacing violations with IB. Also they don't have synthetic internal symbols PREM & EPREM (if you watch 'em).

Get TS & OD here. These guys have everything.

  10. What do you mean by "backfill"?

btw, I just downloaded "bestfreecharts.com". It seems pretty awesome. However, I'll know more after some testing. I came across the advertisement in Stocks & Commodities magazine. The same magazine that Don Bright is in...

    thanks,
