Two more questions: What is the largest price difference that's been seen between spot gold and the e-mini futures gold price? As expiration gets closer (I mean, when the November assignment dates gets closer), do the two prices (spot gold and futures gold) move closer together until they match on expiration day? Thanks, Frank
frank99, it is better for everybody that you read some elementary book on finance. These type of questions benefit nobody and only infect this insightful trading thread. this forum is called elite trader; not what is the tick value of a contract because i am lazy to look it up myself. thanks
dhpar, I have read several books on trading and finance, and even a book on futures. However, I still have some questions. Don't you have anything better to do than go around and criticizing questions that you think are too elementary? I've got an idea for you. Why don't you ignore the threads that you find useless? I come across useless threads and posts all the time, and it is so much easier to ignore them than make an ass out of myself replying how little everyone else knows compared to me. Frank
go here http://futuresource.quote.com/reference/contspecs.jsp and then pick around the futuresource site for all things future
Gold made a short up move to 767 during LBMA trade today but only stayed there for a brief moment before some erratic pricing began and sent gold back into the 755-760 range. With the latest COT data showing the largest build up of forward sold positions by the commerical interests, i continue to choose not to fade this development and remain flat gold for now. The OI in this active contract is also at very lofty levels now while the net long funds should be looking at the Yen for further clues. However, the short side remains unclear at the moment as prices could continue somewhat higher. I believe that gold is still prone to topping out in the short term with an ideal pullback down to at least $720 on the cash gold rate...
Thanks Realist, I've been following this thread. I hope that you are right. I'm looking to make a modest LT investment in Gold. About 10 oz. I've been considering Maple Leafs. About what premium over spot should one expect to pay? I've made several inquiries and have received a wide range of quotes.
Just a gut feel here but with gold backing away from 770 cash, there is a substantial possibility that some heavy selling could come through here today. Short from 767 cash with stops close by. Global markets appear to be correcting significantly now and gold will likely get caught up in the selling shortly imo...
