"Anxiety is there, it is only sleeping, it's breath quivers perpetually through our being" - Heidegger. "A path of genuine awakening is a path of growing increasingly alive and aware in our emotions. As we learn to release the stories, interpretations, and resistance that camouflage our emotional life, our emotions become more accessible and simple- fear is just fear, loneliness just loneliness, anger just anger, joy just joy- thus inviting exploration and understanding. Waves of feeling are no longer frozen by our attempts to define them- They arrive and ebb away. Our hearts can sing when they are no longer burdened by fear." - The Buddhist Path to Simplicity. This is like working out, just like the consciousness effort we make to get healthier physically we need to do the same to get healthier mentally/emotionally. No one is spared , rich, poor, good looking , ugly, healthy not healthy. Remember the mind is where we make our home. peace

  2. Amen. If I knew, I probably wouldn't have started. There are things money can't fix. What I didn't take enough time to consider as a younger man is that there are many other paths to making decent money. Many which now appear to be less damaging. Glad you're able to slow down and are experiencing positives from doing so.

Have you tried Valerian Root? I take on occasion, it's a mild sedative and helps take the edge off a bit.

  4. No, but appreciate the recommendation. I'll discuss it with my doctor.

That in combination with skullcap is a very effective herbal solution.

We live in a pain-oriented culture.

The enculturation starts early and can be described in very specific ways that cause embodied trauma.

Mental loops are like broken records. The thoughts we think cycle repeatedly, like being on a hamster wheel.

The easiest way to change your state is to think better feeling thoughts. Like a muscle, the work is easier with practice.

A shortcut is to do something that feels good to be in your body. Frequently and responsibly.

    Self-care on all levels.

And really, if we don't have that what do we really have?

It's from a state of thriving that we have anything of value to offer another.

    You got this.

  8. alrght well, if you are going to start down that road the let's not forget kava. Members who are not familiar can read up or youtube up a bit. Just order some good stuff straight from Hawaii or Palau. You know how it is with supplements or herbals. You have to learn about concentrations and milligrams of the actual product. Otherwise you pay a pantload for some large dose of filler that might have a couple grains of the real thing in it. Then you say it didnt do anything for you or "I got it for a quarter of the price at walmart" but it had a tenth of effective concentration in it.

Also people say "I will discuss it with my doctor." Problem is that most doctors learned most of what they know about pharmaceuticals from the sales reps. The sales reps aren't pushing natural treatments, we know that. And if the doctors dont know about something they tell you that you are either wasting your money or your dick will fall off if you take it. Meanwhile, they prescribe you some ungodly thing that the sales rep is pushing for three hundred a month and comes with a list of warnings that would scare the horses. What's wrong with that picture class? In most states now-though- people are just smoking more weed as sort of a one size fits all treatment for anxiety or ingrown toenails. That ain't good either.

Original poster thinks he is falling apart. Actually he is coming together. Guarantee ya that in two years he will say it was the best thing that happened to him because it caused a sequence of events that are unseen at this point.

There are many drugs for anxiety and it should be possible for them to come up with one that does not make you drowsy. Keep trying. There is no reason to live that way.

There is also no reason not to do all the lifestyle changes that you know are good for you, regardless of whether you take meds or not.
