You're wrong, you don't understand technology. Put the same clubs in Nicklaus' hands or Bobby Jones' hands in their prime (as Tiger) and you see that Tiger probably wouldn't be the best. Again, I'm, a scratch golfer ... 20 years ago a drive of 260 was decent ... now 320 is the norm. Take 60 yards off the 2nd shot and you're looking at going from a 3 iron to a 9 iron on the second shot. Makes ANY course a hell of a lot easier. Big difference ... at least to any proficient golfer. Or trader. Or a guy trying to hit home runs. Or a tennis pro. You don't compare today's technology to that of years ago. Does a car of the 2000's go faster and is more efficient than a Model T? Sure. But does that make the driver a better driver? Hardly. Gotta compare all the relevant factors. Oh yeah, I never said an "average" player would exceed Tiger. I said it would be done. I suppose you believe Bonds and Aaron played with the same equipment and that Bonds never used an performance enhancement drugs? LOL
Translation: Tiger has a skill that transcends skill. They're synonymous. Brilliant Mav. http://encarta.msn.com/thesaurus_561587979/skill.html
In sports, as in the case of Tiger and Jordan, their skills far exceed their rivals which make them the best. However on top of that, they are born with physical talents that most of us can't acquire. This is why even if the average joe train as hard as he could, he would never achieve their greatness. However, there are plenty of golfers and basketball players who got to where they are through hard work and dedcation, perfecting their skills. The end result may not be an all time great, but they can be very good and make a very good living. With trading, there isn't even the physical obstacles proffessional athletes face. Its all mental and psychological. Some may be born with nature talents and become the Tigers and Jordans of trading, but much more of us can make a very good living through hard work, experience, and acquiring the necissary SKILLS. If you agree with this, then there is no rediculous argument about "edge" or whatnot. My edge is what will make me money, and what will make me money is my skill.
Good. And I dont mean that maliciously. I mean it as a sigh of relief. The issues I follow dont have BOTS scalping.....you cant scalp them period.
I've posted my futures methodology on other threads and don't have the time or the ambition to re-post it here. There is a search function on ET in the upper right hand corner.
So then your edge is your methodology, a set of rules, a strategy. There are a ton of different methodologies out there regarding trading. And they all work. But for some people none of them work. Using the same methodology two people may yield completely different results. However using different methodolgies two people may find similar success. There is no end-all method or solution to the markets(i know you aren't saying that), the key to profitability(edge) is not in the method, but the man behind the method, and his mastery of the method, in conjunction with his mastery of his own mind(psychology). In other words, skill.
