OMG, I have to call bullshit on this. First of all, if you think for a second that you could spend enough time on the links to beat Tiger Woods you are insane. Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, etc, are born with an innate skill that one cannot just acquire on their own. Tiger was playing better golf at age 4 then most golfers on ET as adults. This is not to say no one can beat Tiger or become better then him. But they will be BORN with that ability. It won't come from spending a few extra hours at the driving range. LOL.

no no no, not what i meant. all you have to do is get a high score to be "profitable", and clearly you can do that with skill, with an edge, or both. What level of success, thats not my place to say.

  3. Nobody is saying have this misterious "edge" is a bad thing. If your edge applied to stocks then yes you could instantly become a billionaire. I don't know what this edge is in stocks, but yeah i sure would like to have it. Theres something less misterious though, and thats making money through hard work and acquiring the necissary skills. I think that will make you money. Mav says he agrees. Then he turns around and says, no you need an edge, or else you won't make more than a school teacher. Confused? Yeah me too.

With your spelling, I don't think we have to worry about you becoming a school teacher. :)

i think he's just trying to help you out. it makes sense if you think of the videogame analogy. He's not saying YOU specifically will not make a shit ton w/o an edge. He's just assuming if you have no edge, why not use whatever strat you have on a different product, futures.

(i'm not agreeing or disagreeing with you, i'm just trying to explain the edge/skill idea the way i've thought of it)

    have a good 4th!

So there will never be another human being to exceed the ability or accomplishments of Tiger or Bonds? LOL That's it ... run from the FACTS. Who was tops before Tiger? Nicklaus? Who was HR leader years ago? Aaron! There will be people born in the future who will exceed the accomplishments of Woods or Bonds. Uhhh, yeah!! If you understand technology you'd know that is a BIG part of new records and levels of accomplishment come from just that --- "technology". Listen, I'm a scratch golfer ... the clubs and balls have allowed players of today to obliterate courses that were true tests in the past. Same with baseball. Same with trading. Pick most any profession and the results are the same. Who was better --- Rod Laver or Roger Fedderer? Are you comparing apples to apples in terms of equipment? I think not.

Sorry, but your logic was like swiss cheese .. full of holes.

  8. to complicate matters further, some people are born with a talent. ie higher spatial concepts and symbols. what if vast majority arent able to perceive the same thing. is that an edge or skill?

No, you are confusing things here. Technology is irrelevant unless you are going to handicap Tiger and play with the new clubs while Tiger is forced to play with the older clubs. If you compete with Tiger and use the same "clubs", Tiger will kick your ass each side of Sunday. Not much you can do about it.

Some day, someone might come along that is better then Tiger, I don't mean 50 years from now with new equipment that allows my mother to drive a golf ball 700 yards. I mean someone that can BEAT Tiger or his records. That means someone will have to win 100 plus tournaments, whatever Tiger will have won by the end of his career, and win those tournaments playing against equal opponents using the SAME equipment.

I'm sorry, your argument falls short. Athletes like Tiger are rare and few and far between. No amount of practice will make an average player as good as Tiger. Sorry.

  10. Does Tiger have an edge over his opponents because he's more skillful?
