In addition, this is at a time when Trump the reformer should be gaining ground politically because many people, including some Democrats see our political institutions and the media as being corrupt and self serving. Part of the problem is Trump, unfortunately. His campaign promise of cleaning up the swamp has been put on the shelf it seems. He is using old Bush administration people like John Bolton or old cronies like Rudy Giuliani, for Gods sake. Even Kavanaugh has a past with Bush. Trump needs to go after the many corrupt Democratic politicians and their inevitable violations with campaign finance laws and tax laws. For example, we have seen Obama gain power to the US Senate through influence pedaling and then he received a “sign on bonus” to run for President through a ridiculously sweet real estate deal. Trump may also have the legal basis to go after certain media outlets, not that it is necessary to have a real legal basis in this day and age of Russia Collusion, racism etc., or sexual misconduct charges. The outlook for Democracy is grim in the United States because of a few, well organized sick individuals who either have an axe to grind with the United States and or seek ultimate power. They have convinced a lot of people, including yourself, their plan is for world good. History and the psycology of those obsessively seek power and will use any means possible including supporting false accusations of racism, etc., using intimidation tactics, and skillful misrepresentations, says otherwise. Once our rights are taken away, it will be impossible to get them back. Or are you feeling safe in England or whatever country you are now staying in? Sure you are on the right side of “We are smarter than them” equation?

You posted statistics in another thread showing Federal Government transfer payments as a percentage of state revenues in order to make a point that Conservative states are more on the dole than Liberal states. This is misleading for several reasons. First of all, the statistics you cited did not include the dollar amount the US Government transfered to each state. Second, there were no statistics that showed the percentage of total US Government to state transfer payments that were allocated to each state as a percentage of total allocatible funds. Third, the methodology employed in the statistics you cited was incomplete. For example, by necessity of military security from suprise attack, certain military bases need to be located deep inland. Forth, the populous Left state benefit from subsidized farm spending through lower food costs. Personally, I would like to them end, but I guess the powers that be put priority on overproduction and the food security that goes along with it. Perhaps if the Democrats can legislate more industries that some of the states rely on such as coal, these states will end up looking like the economically failed Democratic strongholds of Baltimore, MD or Detroit, MI, or Chicago, IL, or East Los Angeles, CA. The thinking used to be “Well, with Hillary at least we get Bill again”. After Hilary’s “Basket of Deplorables” remark, years of perceived racist and gender persecution of white males by the media, and the stifling of free speech through “Political Correctness” political outsider Trump with baggage seemed slightly more palatable than establishment Hilary.
