DC Statehood Would Be Unconstitutional

The VA portion has already been returned.

 

NFW DC should be made a state. The only solution is retrocession to MD, just like they did with the part that was in VA.

 

Then give most of D.C. to Maryland except for the key government buildings.

There is no need for a District of Columbia enclave to exist which includes the homes of permanent residents (beyond the White House for the president).

 

There is definitely a benefit to The Union by admitting DC as a state.Resizing DC is constitutional,its been done before and the constitutional does not say the exact size it has to be.

Making a new state is constitutional, ithas been many times before.

 

My comment was in response to your that D.C. people dont want to be in VA or MD....taxes is always high on the list why people move out of D.C.

 

If 86% want statehood rather than be a part of VA or MD taxes aren't that big an issue imo.

Less of a chance of Republicans controlling the Senate.If DC and all the territories were states Republicans would never control The Senate and Supreme Court again.That would be the greatest thing in this countrys history.

 

No, that would be the greatest thing for Democrats. It has no benefit to The United States.

 

Fewer Republicans in office is a great benefit to The United States.
