I opened directly with the main site www.alliancetrader.com couple months back. I notice that there are quite a few more people here who are using Alliance. I am still with them and I am very pleased with their support desk.
They are registered as a Jamaican securities firm and not with the NASD or any North American Exchange. Their website says it's not geared to clients from the U.S. I doubt very much that you'd have any recourse if they closed up and kept everyone's money. Beware.
Good observation. I was wondering about this. At the bottom of the homepage it says, "Alliance Investment Management, LTD is not targeted or intended for US persons." Perhaps they say that to keep the SEC from trying to somehow go after them, maybe through the Jamaican authorities.
Ask them why they say that. They have an email address. Here is a link with news releases about Alliance: http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/search/results.asp?stype=simple&stext=Alliance+Investment+Management
http://www.alliancetrader.com/commissions $1.5 cent per share  And they Charge $100 per international wire transfer out, What this says about the firm?, while other Firms like IB do it for free of charge? $30 is the maximum that most banks charge today, brokers usually add another $20 for themselves
Sure it's very nice and clean beach, but it's expensive as a hell Price for around $1000/weekly for a 1bedroom? I can find you better beaches with much more life to it for $500/monthly in many Southeast Asian resorts. http://www.silver-sands.com/choose_1bdrm_price.html
Asia. Too far from home base, and I can't read in that language. From Jamaica I'm 1 1/2 hours to Miami by air. Silver Sands does'nt come cheap. But there are cheaper places: http://www.jamaicanegril.com/ Click on rates and divide the Ja currency by 60 to get US$.
Here are some cheaper ones. All rates are in US$. You can get Day's in for under $60. http://cheap-hotels.greatnow.com/jamaica-hotels/
Yes, I am still using Alliance (http://www.alliancetrader.com). I have had no trouble getting money wired in or out. I have been using them for some time now and everything has been ok. The software is very good. I have been day trading the whole time (on a daily basis) with considerably less than $25,000 in my account. Gotta get back to trading since its around the open and thats generally when I make most of my money. I will try to come back more often and answer questions. I just don't generally think about message boards too much while I'm trading and working a full-time job (I'm a consultant). Sorry to anyone who I have not responded to who sent me PMs. I will try to answer them and any new PMs you guys send me in a more timely fashion. Later, TraderRuss
