I had a really hard time learning to use the TWS. You might take a look at some of the third-party tools such as ButtonTrader or NinjaTrader.

    Good luck!

    Richard,

I got one more queation. What about AMEX stocks do you route via Amex exchange?

    Thanks,

I am not currently trading AMEX stocks. How I would rout orders would depend on my trading strategy. I think the AMEX specialist operates like the NYSE specialist, so I would probably use AMEX routing. Using SMART routing with listed stocks will sometimes get a better price or faster fill, but it makes us dependent on IB's order routing logic and other uncertainties. I also don't know if IB shows quotes from regional exchanges for listed stocks, and whether IB can rout orders there.

I have sometimes noticed quote discrepancies late in the day such as ask bring lower than the bid. It tends to slow up your action while increasing fear.

Have a friend using Cyber Trader and he doesn't seem to have many problems. Although he has told me he prefers not to trade NYSE stocks.
