Day trading rule of futures?

Discussion in 'Index Futures' started by mizhael, Mar 5, 2009.

  1. Hi all,

I am a newbie starting to trade futures from my old stocks and options realm.

Just want to confirm: daytrading futures does not have pattern daytrading rule while daytrading other etf products have the rule?

Am I right? Any other instruments that don't have a daytrading rule?

    Excerpt Wiki page below:

    ---------------------------
    Round Trip

If you buy the same stock, at 3 different times in the same day, and close all of that same stock in one trade, that will be considered "three day trades", or 3 "round-trips". The next round trip in the next 4 business days will freeze your account (you can only sell existing positions) for 90 days, or until you get $25,000 cash into your account, whichever comes first. This also applies to options.

Afaik, futures are not subject to the pattern day trading rule.

    Not sure about other instruments.
