My guess is 2002 at best. IB was long into the process before the OSC ordered Ameritrade and Datek to register in Canada. With IB still not approved I wouldn't hold my breath for Datek. Either the OSC is terribly inept, or is holding up applications to let Canadian brokers catch up to the services offered by their U.S. competitors. Neither does much for the credibilty of the Canadian securities regulatory system.
as of tuesday, "they have asked for information, we have and are supplying them with what they are asking".
looks like IB will have a "first in" advantage in Canada. Cybertrader just closed all their Canadian accounts last week.
