Once in a while WTI crude oil (and copper, gold ) moves during the Asian session. It can move with a decent reward-risk ratio of ~3. For today, crude oil, copper, gold, AUD, and most Asian Index futures moved in tandem due to yesterday's US CPI data release. I was wary of today's WTI crude oil movement as Shanghai INE crude oil hardly moved.
No way to predict how far the market will go (if the market moves in my favor). I usually trade with 3 (or multiple 3) lots. 1st lot - target decent reward risk ratio of 2 3rd lot - hold it for a longer period of time; The market might move tremendously. 2nd lot - target profit somewhere in between ...
Do you find trading the first 2 hours of different markets better than just trading US markets all night your time ?
There are 2 major considerations. 1. Trendy market vs choppy market trendy market - the market moves in a decisive, smooth manner. Choppy market - the market moves in a jerky spiky choppy undecisive manner. For such a market, it is very difficult to profit from it. I don't want to profit from such a market. If you trade the whole of the US sessions, it doesn't mean the market will be trendy even though the US is the most powerful economy. 2. concentration Personally, I find it very difficult to concentrate nonstop for > 2 hours. Take for example 17 Feb 2021. China A50 (mid-Asian session) European bonds like bund, btp (mid-European session) moved in a trendy manner. The rest of the markets were rather choppy.
I trade the US pre market and open but the time zone differences between Australia and US has stating to impact my sleep. US open is 1:30AM AU time.
I trade at the end Eur session (1.5 hrs before the US stock market opens). This is when the Eur and US investors/traders interact. Nowadays, I rarely trade the US opening session; not worth the wait. This is something you can consider.
