I understand that the Record date is the date you must own a stock to get dividends or the stock split ==> to participate in the X date.

Where can I go to find that date?

  2. Ex-Date is the date that determines if you will be eligible to take part in a corp. action. If you buy on Ex you are NOT entitled. If you sell on Ex you are entitled.

In other words, own the stock/option on ex-1 if you wish to take part in an action.

Even the MSN.com finance section will provide you with such information.
