Data sources

Discussion in 'Strategy Building' started by Snowboarder, Dec 28, 2018.

  1. Hi all,

Currently developing some systems and use data available on my broker account or through free sources (yahoo finance, barchart.com etc).

However, I find the detail lacking (i.e. only daily data) and would ideally like to breakdown to 4 hour at least. My broker only has data below daily timeframe for 12 months; which is not enough for robust backtesting.

I'm looking for some recommendations on data sources - ideally free ones, but happy to pay if necessary. Where are the best sources?

    Many thanks in advance.

Many of the paid data providers could give you a month free for historical testing. You can try out Barcharts, DTN and if you d Futures, Rithmic.
