    Received yesterday from mechtrading:-

Hello and thank you for your interest in QCollector Expert.

Question: How does qcollector work with esignal? I was under the impression the esignal api was discontinued.

QCollector Expert is a legacy application and still has full access to the eSignal servers.

I hope this answers your question.

    Regards,

As you can see that reply goes straight into the face of what another user just shared.

In any case I mentioned multiple times that I am not looking for third party solutions, the more parts there are the higher the chance something breaks. I can only repeat that I look for a data service provider that offers an API, not some sort of middle ware. Would you please stop polluting this thread any further, your opinion is noted and I thanked you multiple times for your contribution but it is not what I am looking for.

Not sure why it doesn't work for me then. I loaded up the limited version that only lets you do like 7 symbols or something. It says connected, but if you try and pull any data it does nothing. I'll email them as well, as this could be helpful for me. Right now I'm using Esignal's Qlink with Excel to put my data into a SQL database. Not very elegant but it works.

Are you using them? I contacted them and have not received a reply so far. Are they still alive?

Just wanted to update you. I was completely wrong, should have done my due diligence first and contacted them after the test failed for me prior to posting. Qcollector works. Talked with the company today. The reason I was not getting any data was due to the fact when your on the free version you can only test 9 specific symbols. I was testing symbols that do not work in the free version.

I also asked them how it works. They told me it still uses an Esignal API connection to the Esignal Data Manager. I was told its very similar to the old API Esignal gave to everyone. Developers now pay Esignal for access and support to this API.

I tested it out and it worked flawlessly. It also can update csv's in real-time as data comes in, or scheduled updates. For my needs it's going to work great as its seems to be the cheapest way to get quality 1m bar real-time non-delayed data from Tokyo and Osaka. I'll leave at that as I don't want to hijack your thread on a product that is not what your looking for. Just wanted to inform you my original findings were wrong.

Have not read through all replies but maybe plus feed from IDC (eSignal parent) is the [only] way to go, but institutional pricing www.interactivedata.com/.../PlusFeed%20for%20Redistributors%20-%20global.pdf

Would be interested in any info on this if you follow up on it.

This is another possibility (used to be Telekurs)

These are the only two companies that take data direct from the exchange - others like BBG are redistributers of data from these two - they are the source.

I too require an API solution for global intra-day data via an API.

I currently use historical end-of-day data for over 13k assets from Metastock. Their data comes from Thompson Reuters and is great quality. I've had to jump through a few hoops to extract the data from the Windows based Downloader application to an OSx based solution but it's pretty much automated now (well sort of!) :)

The next stage is to obtain intraday data for analysis.

I've had a look at quantgo and it looks pretty good. They offer a cloud solution to obtain the data in their cloud only. However, there is nothing stopping anyone from developing their own software (running in their cloud servers) to stream real-time quotes to your own more protected cloud servers.

Note - this streaming suggestion is for analysis of data purposes only and is not for real-time execution - before anyone starts banging on about delays etc!

Interestingly, their solution is AWS based, which is annoying because I developed my solution based on GCloud (Google) - oh well.

I'm going to find out more and will report back. Interested to hear any other ideas anyone may have.
