Just ran a complete backup (including boot sector) from 0-700GB of used hard drive space. 6 core AMD FX-6300 with 16GB to USB based external drive. Total time 2 hours. Compressed image is 150GB.

I would like to know what the simplest and cheapest UNATTENDED (and likely incremental) daily back scheme is. Remote and local.

Back up validation took another 2 hours. What a waste of the day. I will only do this again if a mission critical app is installed from scratch.

Automated and Incremental backups: Via Skydrive synchronization for My documents and key app data folders ( which I haven't documented, naturally)

Scalability: If you have multiple PCs. You can subscribe to an Acronis account to sync between devices.

  3. Did you backup to external SSD? Transferrate has a big influence on time of backup.

Nope. I backed up to a WD USB 2.0 HDD.

  5. Get USB 3.0. Will be much faster. Or an SSD, that will go much faster.
