I got scared and freaked out. Got greedy and opened up another one-sided position and lost $1k in cocoa. Cashed out all my positions and gonna paper-trade spreads a little bit and get my confidence back up.

Also was busy with planning my party last weekend: http://members.cox.net/danno9

Had a rash of orders come in for my Porsche-upgrade biz, so been slaving away in the shop cutting & welding. My plan is now to close up shop on this mail-order operation by the end of the the year. Also close down the computer-consulting biz as well. Both of these are taking up too much of my time and I can't focus enough on learning and practicing trades. With those distractions gone, I can focus on living 100% from my trading. :)

Finally, been busy training for an up-coming bike-race. The Giro di S.F. on Memorial Day: http://www.metromintcycling.com/?giro_di_sf

After that, I should be back on track. :)

  7. You didn't go long cocoa, did you? I took the other side of that bet, and have been happy. :)

  8. Hey Danno,

Are you putting in market or limit orders for these things? I just moved to Man, and had some serious confusion over their software today, but the commissions are great!

I'm in the cat-3 race at 2pm. Renewed my license after 10-years and the downgraded me. I think I'm gonna get my @ss kicked royally! :)

I went long-calls and it took a dump. I gotta start using stops on these things...

I just use market orders. Seems to execute faster and I don't have to worry about missing the move completely.

Ok, finally closed out a spread on wheat I set up on 23-aug:

    OPEN
    23-aug-06: buy (2) oct-365 calls -2575.00
    23-aug-06: sell (2) oct-410 calls +500.00
    ------------------------------------
    -2075.00 total

    CLOSE
    28-aug-06: sell (1) oct-365 call +2050
    30-aug-06: buy (1) oct-410 call -600
    31-aug-06: sell (1) oct-365 call +2700
    31-aug-06: buy (1) oct-410 call -1000
    ------------------------------------
    +3150.00 total

    RESULTS
    -2075.00 +3150.00 = +1075 (+52%)

I really shot myself in the foot by setting up the short side of the spread way too close... grrr... I think for a fast-moving thing like this, a long-strangle would've been better. At least that way, the losing leg has a fixed loss amount that doesn't increase as the underlying moves past it...
