  1. Well, here is the kiss of death for the Colts...

Rice predicts Indianapolis will win Super Bowl

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who says her dream job is to head the National Football League, dropped her diplomatic guard on Friday and predicted Indianapolis would win the Super Bowl.

"I really like both Chicago and Indianapolis but I think Indianapolis is going to win it and that would be a good thing," said Rice, a longtime Cleveland Browns fan, when asked by reporters to predict the winner.

The Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts face off on Sunday in Miami for the biggest single sporting event of the year in the United States.

  2. We here in Australia are puzzled by this game you call football. We get it on cable but nobody understands it and most just watch it as an anthropological excercise.
Could someone be kind enough to explain the "rules" or give me a link where I might attempt to appreciate the intricacies of this bemusing game of yours.

  4. Alex the interesting thing about American style "football" compared to the World style "football" is that each position..running back, defensive end, quarterback, lineman etc demands a different set of skills. Many different body types, large, small, fast, slow can play because of this. In World style "football" it is primarily the fast, agile player...most are similar body type and size.

American football is like chess and World football is like checkers.

oh and my prediction...Bears will pull Grossman out in the 2nd half and
Brian G will throw an interception to lose the game. Indi's defense will win it for them

  5. It's quite a bit closer than that. I'd say SOBE to Dolphins Stadium is 14 miles.

The stadium is in Miami's Dade County but only a quarter mile south of Broward County. In fact adjoining Calder Race Course which separates Dolphin Stadium from Broward got screwed by a "nose." Broward is the only county in Florida allowed to have non-Indian slots and poker. (Gulfstream's facility which is no further inside Broward than Calder is outside Broward is world class beautiful). Poor Calder get's ZERO casino gambling just by virtue of being literally on the wrong side of the street....

  6. Four chances ("downs") to pass or run the ball ten yards in order to keep it or the other team gets the ball - so it's really 3 chances - followed by a kick ("punt") it away so the other guys get put in a shitty spot on the field as far away as possible from the endzones which is where you score.

Field is 100 yards long. When offense (or defense on a steal) moves ball into endzone it is touchdown for 6 points. Immediately after touchdown is "point after touchdown" which is an extra 1 for kicking it through posts or an extra 2 for running or passing into endzone from a short distance out. Another way offenses can score is kicking a "field goal" for 3 points through the posts.

Game noted for lavish entertainment and advertising. Estimated 6% of American workforce of 150M either takes next day off or calls in sick. Also in addition to standard odds betting, in tons of workplaces and bars there are simple betting pools that require no knowledge or skill so all can participate.

  10. When we here in the US want to find a definition or information on a subject we use a new fangled source called a "Search Engine". A very good one is called Google.
