Whoa!! I was under the impression that Urlacher is one of the best in the league and an anchor on the team!! Not a good tackler, huh? Wow!!
Urlacher ranks 13th league wide in solo tackles, and doesn't have a single sack. Compare his stats with a guy like Zach Thomas, they are not even playing the same game. Lance Briggs is more valuable to the Bears than Urlacher.
NO.... the Chargers should have crushed NE.....what jerks..can't catch a ball...hold onto a ball.....NE wasn't that good...San Diego was just that BAD.
The game was San Diego's. Turnover fest, stupid penalties and I'm pained to say, poor coaching by Schottenheimer.
Being that I live both in Chicago and SoFla I've seen Urlacher and Zach extensively. Zach Thomas is a great linebacker who's losing a step each year. As he slows down his lack of size hinders his over all effectiveness. Thomas has rightfully been a perennial all-pro but he's never been a true "impact" player. Urlacher on the other hand is the dominant linebacker in the NFC. Because of Urlacher's speed and injuries in the Chicago secondary the Bears tend to drop him too far back in pass coverage situations. Often on draws or bootleg situations he's positioned far away from the point of attack. Case in point was a scrabbling eight yard run by Hasselback on a FG drive in the 3rd quarter. The play went right up the middle but Urlacher was giving help underneath the zone about 20 yards downfield.
What? No predictions for next week? I'm taking Colts over the Pats. Bears over the Saints. And I'm going to give the Superbowl to Peyton. I don't know why, but something has changed on that team. This is finally Peyton's year.
If the Saints watch film and see how easy it is to run on the Bears if you spread them out, it is a Saints vs someone else other than the Bears in the SB. Urlacher needs to stop playing like a free safety/MLB hybrid when they spread out the defense. In that case, if the secondary is able to man cover, we are in great shape against the run if Urlancher doesn't drop back. However, while Urlacher is often right when he taps his head for a pass, the Saints are gonna exploit that for sure by bluffing when they see him tap his head and the QB audibles to change the play. it is cat and mouse... I am really impressed at how technological Footbal has become. These guys really know how to find weakness in film, then exploit it on the field with deadly precision... nitro
