"Schwabâs active brokerage unit, CyberTrader, grew from 300,000 accounts in March to 500,000 accounts in June." Well, I'm astounded by those figures. Did they buy someone? Does this mean there are that many PLATFORM users? Hard to believe.
Hard to believe they have 200,000 new accounts in 3 months. Maybe they are moving some "traditional" customers to the CybertTrader platform, though it's hard to believe. TM Trader
Unless they did transfer some accounts from traditional brokerage accounts to Cybertrader like someone else mentioned, this does speak volumes about the sentiment levels in mid-June when the SP was topping out for the summer. I remember well that the bullish sentiment was in the high 60's and bearish sentiment went as low as 8% at one point. So, basically, I would not be completely suprised if a bunch of new accounts were opened in light of the fact that individual investor sentiment peaked in the same time frame...
I can't remember where I read it, but I think it was a wire report in a local paper that brokerages across the board are up in terms of an increase in accounts. Re: a sign that things are getting better. I just tried to find a link. No luck. I'll bet someone will post one soon... André

cybertrader is the best. "I wouldn't daytrade without cybertrader and esignal." for swingtrading, IB is good since low commisshes. I still don't know about using a java app to manage daytrades... hey def, is IB going to come out with a dedicated software interface like cybers' anytime soon? if they do, I'd check it out. If we could get cyber's software w/IB's per share commissh rate, hey I'd be in daytrader heaven. ken
