Customers of Interactive Brokers file class action complaint over management of portfolio margin acc

  1. Is the law equal to both men and women? If the husband earns lesser than the wife, does it mean he stands to profit from the divorce? Sounds like a good trade to catch a much richer spouse, regardless of the other qualities. If the relationship doesn't work out, one can always be hugely compensated. Did I miss out anything?

  2. Truly weird world that we live in, since the world is ruled by many men who have trouble keeping their dicks to themselves. Why didn't ex-presidents like Bill Clinton and JFK correct this unfairness, given that it is absolutely in their interest to do so?

Can only agree. The current administration (with all its faults) is actually paying some attention to these issues. This is all kind of off topic though...:D

  6. lol, thats why IBKR is almost $60 a share now.

I've seen dumb errors on the system , mostly dividend dates.

Try managing 500,000 symbols without error.

    Or 50

I read the backstory, I am rather shocked at the turn of events.

Should someone with substantial account size be with IB or should they look for a better clearing firm/BD that doe not change their margin at their whim and fancy along with random errors? If he has $25m in his account, I should think there are better options than IB?

I think people think all brokers are alike. That just is not the case. And people get comfortable with their situation. They're afraid of change maybe...who knows. Why do people in my neighborhood eat McDonalds everyday when there's an awesome local coffeeshop that beats them out by a mile. McDonalds is a known quantitity I guess.

Pure stupidity. He trades amounts this large and relies on IB's website for information this critical? Sound like a case of "easy come, easy go". It seems this is just the iceberg of the VIX heros that are around.

IB's autoliquidation isn't immediate, you get about 10 minutes to reduce. Besides, if it really was an error as you stated, I'm sure he has legal options.
