Remote Desktop is Allowed because of business continuity concerns. Especially with the work from home going on right now. Most jobs only need Bloomberg terminal for small period of time. Risk, some research, trade investigation etc. The Sales Reps don't care. As long as you pay, they will try to upsell you on other areas.
Not true, it was only allowed at the height of covid. They might not enforce it hardcore right now but remote desktop is one of the things that usually gets your compliance department 1 or 2 warnings and then your terminal is getting shut down by bbg. I am absolutely sure that they will be stricter again about this once covid subsides. And your last comment perhaps applies to Refinitiv sales reps, definitely not to Bloomberg.
Me remote desktoping (using GoToMyPC) to my bloomberg anywhere account. I've been doing this every trading day for the last 10 years.
Hmm, I can only go by what I heard from a bbg manager and what I heard from you. As I know that person but don't know you I personally give more credence to what I heard from my friend. But why would you remote with an anywhere license, that makes zero sense for me. If you need access on the road then you can use their mobile app. Obviously your screenshot is on a desktop computer or laptop Ono which you can install Bloomberg and remove an additional point of failure plus you can access the api and excel add-in locally.
I tie the Bloomberg to excel where I feed live prices and run my risk and intraday pnl analysis. I also feed data to a local sql server on that computer. By using the GoToMyPC I can access this from my office (where I have a day-ish job) You can’t Remote Desktop to a Bloomberg terminal that is designed to be shared (like a common terminal at a library) but you can for a Bloomberg anywhere.
So you pay 2300$ USD/month for Bloomberg for trading (I guess!) and you still have a day-ish job (not trading related I guess again!) ???
I would be careful to share this kind of information. Bloomberg is extremely restrictive with their terminal license and strictly speaking you are not even allowed to use the data for your own risk calculations (or return attributions). Neither are users allowed to store the data in databases, not with the terminal license, but with other produces such as bpipe. Not judging here, just saying.
