What made me most angry about these speeches from the pulpit is actually not the speakers themselves. There are, were and always will be nutburgers, racists, and agitators. What bothered me was the incredibly enthusiastic response this sort of rhetoric gets from Barack's fellow congregation members. The crowd did not just clap, or repond well.... they hooted, hollard, laughed, jumped with joy, waived their hands in the air, cheered, and responded with exuberance. What bothered me is that Barack Obama, the man who is on the cusp of being the President of the United States, chose to be one of these people, to sit among them, and to pray among them, to be friends with them, to work with them, to share his life with them. In the most personal aspects of his life, his spiritual life, his marriage, the baptism of his children... these are the people that he chose to share those moments with. It does not matter that Barack "was not in church that day." It does matter that Barack went to church there at all. It does matter that Barack chose to associate himself with these people.
