PayPal’s newly launched cryptocurrency service saw record transactions – on Monday, January 11th, it reached a record of 242 million US dollars. In comparison, the previous volume record was almost half of that – 129 million US dollars.

PayPal recently added a new feature that made trading cryptos more accessible to the random retail user, since they could exchange currencies on the fly. The caveat is that for now that feature is available only to American users. PayPal is looking to expand this feature to European users at the beginning of 2021 and eventually to all of PayPal’s 26 million merchants.

I really wonder what the volume will be when that goes global. Cryptos have truly become part of the mainstream now.
