This part of the letter summarizes the problem real well: The school's ideology requires students to see themselves not as individuals, but as representatives of a group, forcing them to adopt the status of privilege or victimhood. They must locate themselves within the oppressor or oppressed group, or some intersectional middle where they must reckon with being part-oppressor and part-victim.
The teacher but this is exactly what the extreme proponents are pushing to be taught rather than a history which teaches the racist past as a part of history which has been dminished or not covered at all. I have seen the woke weak ass whites claiming they are part of the oppressors and represent all the people that were racist slaveholders and the extreme minorities claiming tha their history needs to be taught at the exclusion of others due to victimhood. It is not about butthurt, it is about the extreme proponents going full karen on this issue. I am tired of seeing wealthy white hipsters claim they are so ashamed of their priviledge and renounce the system that oppresses all. Like those bitches ever walked around owning slaves or kicking minorities out of clubs. When I was in school I loved watching the birkenstock kids in tie dyes climbing out of the BMW their parents bought them to have at school. CRT is another slogan/catchphrase to be used by people to ruin a movement based on good intentions.
Honest critique and I share your sentiment. I honestly haven't given this CRT outrage much attention as it just seems like the flavor of the week FOX story we won't be talking about 6 months from now (first saw it pop up when Donald did some EO against it, and from what I read, CRT just appeared like a request of transparency of black history in education). Maybe I'll revisit in 6 months if the cons haven't moved on to the next topic du jour as we did w/antifa and are doing w/cancel culture.
I never had a BMW... but sports and particularly hard court tennis beat the crap out of my feet and big toe. I loved birkenstocks. As my feet got better I put them away a few years ago. But... I am going to get a new pair in the first store that does not require me to wear mask.
CRT is also the result of an increase in progressive ideologies in the sciences ... These examples of progressive social experimentation will probably increase over the next few years unfortunately . Across the nation parents are furious and ousting school board members who push Critical Race Theory. School district after school district after school district. Parents are simply not going to put up with it anymore. Critical Race Theory Opponents Win Board Elections at Nation’s Top High School Candidates opposed woke curriculum and eliminating merit-based admissions tests https://freebeacon.com/campus/criti...n-board-elections-at-nations-top-high-school/ A group of anti-critical race theory candidates this week won seats on the governing body of the nation’s top high school after campaigning against the school’s racially driven admissions practices. As part of the district’s push for diversity and inclusion, Fairfax County Public Schools scrapped the admissions test for Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in October, and two months later, adopted a quota system to boost black and Hispanic enrollment numbers. A slate of four candidates opposed to the school’s recent embrace of "equity" won seats on Thomas Jefferson’s Parent Teacher Student Association. Activists who wanted to eliminate Thomas Jefferson’s test requirement also pushed for implementing "antiracism" and critical race theory-based initiatives district-wide, according to a series of emails uncovered in December. President-elect Harry Jackson, the first black man to lead the association, told the Washington Free Beacon that if left unchecked, critical race theory will tear communities apart. "It's teaching that white people are inherently racist," Jackson told the Free Beacon, "teaching that other children are there to oppress you. This is not the way to go." Parents across the country have organized against schools’ embrace of "woke" standards and practices. Anti-critical race theory candidates have won school board seats in two Dallas suburbs. Parents in Indiana criticized one school district’s promotion of racially divisive resources, including works from "antiracism" scholar Ibram X. Kendi and an article on how white women play a "role in racial (in)justice." Coalition for TJ, a nonpartisan group of parents opposed to the district’s leftward sprint, supported Jackson. They also backed Jun Wang, Himanshu Verma, and Hanning Chen, who were elected second vice president, treasurer, and corresponding secretary, respectively. Fairfax County Public Schools did not reply to the Free Beacon’s request for comment in time for publication. (More at above url)
Parents are not going to put up with school board members pushing this Critical Race Theory nonsense in their schools. No matter what they try to disguise it as. Until your school board formally declares that Critical Race Theory, with a clear definition of the education instruction that will not be used, will never be taught in the schools as a system-wide o]policy -- the issue will not disappear from your school board meetings. School board members in New York wanted to embrace diversity, but hecklers had other plans https://www.cnn.com/2021/06/11/us/students-heckled-school-board-meeting/index.html Board members in a New York school district attempted to discuss a diverse curriculum and critical thinking -- but it erupted into a debate about critical race theory. At a school board meeting in Commack, Long Island, this week, members of the public heckled board members and students alike in a contentious back and forth regarding school curriculum. After a presentation on the district's curriculum, Board Trustee Susan Hermer tried to preempt disagreement before public comment on Tuesday night's curriculum presentation. (More at above url)
