Critical Race Theory is being taught in K-12 schools across America. This is already clearly established despite those trying to deny it. It may be under a different name using words like "equity" -- but it is being included in classroom lessons. The issue is that there are some parents, politicians, and pundits trying to package everything involving "inclusion & diversity" as Critical Race Theory. These are generally the same folks trying to force schools systems to teach "traditional" history without including our "social history" including all the negative historic points regarding slavery, civil rights issues, etc. The point of this article is that the battle regarding Critical Race Theory will not only be found in local school systems but is not involving state committees which set the social studies standards. These committees typically have no involvement in "politics" or "media" -- and now are suddenly in the limelight.
Not CRT but something connected to race in some way that if you squint your eyes and turn your head, in a certain light, is almost but not quite entirely unlike something something CRT.
You claim equity = CRT simply because you say so....while BoE and administrators have said nothing like that is being taught in the schools county or statewide. You can just go look up the curriculums and see wha they are teaching. Equity is not CRT.... just means teaching history balanced and not just Thomas Jefferson was a great man and never did anything wrong, Civil War was about state's rights (to own people), etc... I repeat that the article you just posted was parents warning that they will no tolerate CRT.... not parents claiming CRT was actually being taught and had evidence of it...
Book bans in schools have been going on for decades. This is not anything new. During my youth our local schools banned books by Judy Blume -- she is now an advocate against book censorship. The schools also banned books about the Quran -- saying these books were offensive to other religions. Way back in time (well before my time) the same schools had banned books teaching evolution. And this is in suburban Long Island. Where have I ever advocated the banning or censorship of books in libraries or schools? Please show me the posts. I want to make it clear you are pushing a false narrative. I have only advocated against educational practices which demean and belittle children on the basis of race. Which is something every rational person should support not allowing in K-12 schools.
Are you aware of any k-12 text books that are doing this? If so, post a link; I'd love to check it out for myself.
You are advocating against a practice you have repeatedly failed to show is actually happening to an action worthy degree, little children being demeaned and this is a typical con wedge approach to keep the door open for the long game Southern strategy. Pawn or plotter, its past time to shut up on this one. You also need to stop the claiming your own posts as evidence. If you keep a thread going forever, when asked for specific proof, provide it. Textbook, photocopied stuff, whatever given to kids.
Most Critical Race Theory lesson plan material for K-12 educators is offered on-line from think-tanks, university professor groups, and sites where teachers sell material to other teachers -- teachers use these resources for their lesson plans. Since the entire intent around Critical Race Theory education is to make the privileged race uncomfortable and give the oppressed a voice -- by it's very nature CRT material divides classrooms on the basis of race. While this may be acceptable in voluntary college level courses -- it is unacceptable in K-12 classrooms. There is a big difference between teaching history with all of its societal warts versus demeaning, separating & belittling children on the basis of race. Textbooks are not used much anymore in many schools. "Book banning" has more to do with what books are available in school libraries.
