Critical Race Theory - Parents fight back

Discussion in 'Politics' started by gwb-trading, Jun 9, 2021.

  1. With family and friends covering school districts in NY, NJ, VA, NC, FL and MD.... none of them said their kids are being taught these terms or the BS being pushed b the right to scare voters ahead of the next election as usual.

Equity is the only term that has ever popped up which means fair and impartial.

CRT is being taught in most local schools districts near me in N.C. The most interesting case is Durham County where the majority of school board members are black. The large majority of children in the Durham County school system are black or hispanic (over 76%). Black parents are lining up on both sides of the CRT issue at recent school board meetings. The leader supporting CRT in Durham County public schools is Activist and minister Paul Scott -- however many black parents in the community oppose CRT being taught.

As noted earlier -- "equity" normally means "fair and impartial". When it comes to CRT "equity" is just a code word for inserting CRT into your school system under a different name.

  3. Your links just show that history will continue to be taught about the Civil War and slavery....does not sound like CRT.

Oh.... and why do people in NC (who lost the war) not want this to be taught?

Some critics argue that the curriculum will make children of other races feel badly about their own race.

So if we teach about the Civil Rights movement, it will make white kids feel bad about their race? What a pussy argument.

Face it... your links still don't indicate CRt is being taught as you declare in NC public schools. CRITICS are claiming CRT is being taught to put down whites....

The links I provide directly address in sequence (the school board make-up with pictures, the demographics of the Durham County school system, and the story about the Durham activist who supports CRT being taught in schools. There is no links saying "history will continue to be taught about the Civil War and slavery" -- there is one link (final one) which is clearly about CRT.

I will note that the Civil War is probably taught more completely in the South than anywhere else. Since it is required in the curriculum in most Southern states in both middle school and high school as part of state history. This is not the case outside the South. Now the question becomes if the history of the Civil War is being taught in a manner that is reflective of the facts regarding slavery and provide an encompassing view of the subject instead of "white-washing" the negative parts. You can certainly teach an inclusive view of slavery and the Civil War without using CRT -- it has been done in Wake County for decades. It has also been part of the North Carolina state public teaching curriculum since the 1980s.

  6. Your last link is about an activist asking for CRT to be taught.. not a school board member who has actual authortiy. Same as if a homeless guy on the street asks for CRT to be taught...

So the school board does not listen to parents on both sides of the issue showing up at meetings? After all the school board is elected by their constituents which are the parents -- they better be listening to what the parents are saying.

  8. Any parent is free to speak at a school board meeting.... I think it would be offensive if the school board decided what parents were allowed to speak and others were not allowed.

But a few parents following the Fauex News script does not mean anything, they get a right to speak.

What if a parent got up and said honoring MLK day in the school system is white hatred... does that mean NC schools teach white hatred?

National Teachers Union plans to target parents opposed to CRT. At this point it is "Cancel Culture" -- the Union is going to make a list and try to demean parents, get them fired, and have the woke mob attack them on social media.

Critical race theory opponents to be targeted, ‘researched’ by NEA teachers' union
Teachers union will research the organizations attacking educators doing anti-racist work
