This is because many parents don't understand what Critical Race Theory actually is -- and is not. They try to push everything under CRT including teaching about the negative aspects of our history as well as Inclusion & Diversity. This stuff is not CRT.

Likewise right-wing politicians are trying to push everything under the "Critical Race Theory" umbrella that they dislike to drive their social & political agendas --- and to rile up their base for re-election.

My earlier summary on Critical Race Theory in this thread provides my perspectives --

Classrooms should be a positive, happy environment where children can learn. Lessons built around "Critical Race Theory" which demean, abuse, and ridicule children are not an appropriate part of an educational agenda.

We should take steps to fully eliminate Critical Race Theory in the classroom but ensure that ALL of U.S. History is still being taught including all the "negative" points in regards to our "social history". It is important that students have a well-rounded view of history but are not belittled when learning it.

  2. Teaching negative aspects about our history is not demeaning or belittling.. it is just facts.

All histories have negative and positives and you teach them all. I did not own slaves so when the teacher taught abotu slavery I was not demeaned because I am not a pussy.

Imagine teaching your kids puppies and rainbows and expecting them to understand how systemic racism has impacted their brothers/sisters of color?

You better understand how Critical Race Theory is being taught in schools. The primary basis of Critical Race Theory is that white children are privileged and guilty of all the sins committed by their ancestors. They are the oppressors and everyone else is the oppressed. And this is what is being pushed in the classroom. Similarly, school "equity programs" built on CRT principles are no different than pushing "Critical Race Theory" lessons in the classroom. CRT-based education is fundamentally racist itself by definition.

    nah...
    the premise goes like this:

"Systemic racism is responsible for a lot of social ills afflicting the African American community and other minorities. Although you may not be responsible for the system set in the past (as a white child), you've still had advantages afforded above those not born into the same privilege. Not subscribing to those beliefs does not change those facts". <<<that's the most "extreme" version that one can attribute to academia w/o being disingenuous.

  6. Go find me a public school curriculum that says that..... I know you are not in public school nor have any children of public school age....

So I don't want to hear the Tucker Carlson rant on CRT claiming white people are priviledged... that is what people are spouting on FB and social media...

I want to see an actual lesson calling everyone oppressors in a state wide public school system.

Once again let me re-post my previous summary so you can understand what Critical Race Theory is -- and is not -- as well as providing references.

    ========================================================

One of the real issues is the Republican legislators calling anything that teaches about racism and the negative aspects of American history as "Critical Race Theory". In their legislatures, after hours of ranting, they pass bills which basically say you can only teach a "white-washed", "traditional-version" of American history where everyone is a patriot and any of the negative experiences are scrubbed. This is just an example of the right-wing misusing "Critical Race Theory" agitation to drive their political & social agenda.

The right -- as well as progressives on the left -- are using "Critical Race Theory" as part of "culture wars" to drive the teaching of their version of history in K-12 public schools. At this point -- it has reached the point where the intent is no longer to teach history but to indoctrinate the students (with agenda's from either extreme).

The classrooms in the U.S. have been able to successfully teach for decades a well-rounded social and factual version of American history in the classroom. The commonly-used history syllabus in most states does not ignore slavery, the civil rights movement, systemic racism, and many other negative points in American history -- in fact these type of items are very front & center in most history lesson including having students do lessons focused on understanding the perspectives and issues with minorities at various points in U.S. history. "Critical Thinking" used by students when creating contextual history papers is very different than "Critical Race Theory".

I will note that educators who generally have a liberal slant have been driving lesson plans in school systems for decades. Due to this the history syllabus in K-12 schools generally already covers a comprehensive version of U.S. history including addressing issues of systemic racism, poverty, political abuse, and segregation. It is hard to make an argument that today's U.S. K-12 school lesson plans slant "conservative".

Yet teaching "Critical Race Theory" is a step too far for many teachers -- they see its destructive effect in the classroom, how it further divides students, and its intentional application of emotional distress. Yet many don't speak up (as noted in articles) because they will lose their jobs when school boards and administrators are demanding CRT be taught.

If you want to understand what Critical Race Theory is -- and is not -- then one of the best sources is the "An A to Z Guide On How To Stop Critical Race Theory And Reclaim Your Local School Board". There is nothing better than a document which explains to parents what Critical Race Theory actually is -- and is not -- so they can fight it with facts as a source for definition. After all this is what local parents are going to your school board to raise a ruckus about.

Promoting "Inclusion & Diversity" is very different than teaching "Critical Race Theory". and once again, let's address your source, the equivalent of demon sperm COVID doctor on CRT:

and spare me the "progs engaging in culture wars BS" whataboutism. Cons heard the accusation and per usual accuse others of the same to try and change the narrative.

More and more teachers are quitting citing CRT nonsense...

NJ Teacher Quits, Calls School Policies Racist, Including Critical Race Theory Course
The teacher resigned after claiming the head of the private Bergen County school segregated teachers by color — and threatened to fire the entire faculty and replace them with people of color
    https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/loc...luding-teaching-critical-race-theory/3099505/

A New Jersey teacher and parent at a private school has resigned over the school's teaching of critical race theory that she says is racist.

Dana Stangel-Plowe said Englewood's Dwight-Englewood School is going against its mission when it comes to teaching about race. She claims the head of the private Bergen County school segregated teachers by color — and threatened to fire the entire faculty and replace them with people of color.

Stangel-Plowe has taught English at the school since 2014, and recently took issue with the lens in which race has been viewed at the school in recent years, among students and faculty.

“I was asked to see myself as a white woman primarily, as the most important defining characteristics of myself. So we would do these things like have a privilege walk,” said Stangel-Plowe. She said that was when teachers would take steps forward or back based on things like race or socioeconomic group.

“I’m an English teacher and I teach: Don’t judge a book by its cover,” she told NBC New York.

The Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism (FAIR) is a non-profit group founded by a parent of a private school student to combat critical race theory teachings, which says it’s dedicated to advocating anti-racism “rooted in dignity and common humanity." A board member for the group said what was alleged by the teacher is an example of bullying, and shouldn’t be used to teach students about racism.

“A lot of what’s going on here kind of perpetuates a lack of empowerment. Bullying tactics. That’s not a valid educational philosophy,” said FAIR Advisory Board Member Erec Smith.

When asked about the issue, New Jersey residents offered different responses. One Englewood resident said that “the more diverse the ideas we expose people to, the better off we are.” A Teaneck woman said that “they need to keep politics and racism out of the school system. It has no place.”

NBC New York reached out to the school multiple times about the former teacher’s claims, but received no response.
