Credit Card Legislation Moves Through Congress

  1. With the support of Obama credit card reform has a good chance of getting a vote and maybe even pass.

Do you have crappy credit and credit cards? Under legislation moving through congress with the support of Obama you may have to soon pick having one or the other. Without the high fees and income credit card companies get from lower crdit standing people card issuers will have little incentive to issue or maintain credit relationships with those with less than good credit (sub 600-650 FICA)

You can expect to see a hit to earnings and cards issued as well. Of course this will also negatively impact sales of retail but could be a net positive for pawn shops, title loans and cash advance places that charge even more in interest than what Obama is trying to prevent. Welcome to the world of unintended consequences.

Big card issuers are COF, Chase, also look to MA and V to take a hit as well.
