Amibroker officially support C# or C++? Show us the reference. By the way, any good point for not using free open source software like Tradelink but Amibroker? Welcome to show your arguments instead of saying other are kids while you have no reasonable argument.

Yes, you are correct. But the real question here imo is are you profitable currently? If not, then becoming profitable first should be the top priority.

However, there is another aspect here as well. Let us say you are never able to become profitable in your trading. However, if you build software using tradelink for example, you will develop an important skill. And couple of years down the line, you will find that you are qualified to apply for jobs in trading software development firms or some independent trading firms technical/IT department.

So, going down this path of building your own software has a mix of benefits and costs.

j2ee, I am curious as to what is your background? CS engineering or something similar?

Amibroker VS Tradelink, as I said earlier, the coding part different is just using AFL VS C#. Then why using AFL especially it is not free?

Profitable or not is not the point. We need to test our strategy to find out if it is a good one. Of course the "test" can be very simply or complicated, the strategy itself can be very simple or very complicated too, then finding the right testing method and right strategy would require a system to do so. Aimbroker or Tradelink is that system, so ther is no point to talk about profitable or not.

My investment is profitable so far, but not with the automated day trade way which I am trying to build.

I disagree. Being profitable is the most important aim in this business. And believe me it is the toughest challenge you will encounter.

As far as your point regarding infrastructure creation for testing out ideas is concerned. You can use amibroker, TS, MC, Matlab, R, Excel, Eviews, RTS and a whole host of other solutions out there in the market.

These solutions give you enough functionality to test and develop your own ideas. I agree with why pay when you can get it for free. If this is the argument, go down the R path. There is absolutely no trading strategy that cannot be modeled in R.

Btw, there have been many guys on ET here who have worked on developing their own framework - frostengine comes to mind. But who are still not profitable after 10 years of work.

So, choose your battles wisely - trading software development or strategy development using the tools that will get you started fastest. Keep us updated. It will be nice if you create a journal here and write about how your software development journey is going.

    Wishing you good luck.

Why do you prevent comparing free open source software like Tradelink with commerical software like Amibroker?

If my knowledge is correct, business model of Tradelink is that their documentation sucks and they charge you consulting fees to get you started and hand hold you. It is not like true open source. (My knowledge could be off here, I admit since I have never worked on Tradelink directly. This is the impression I have got from reading some others experiences).

I think the right person to answer your question is someone who has worked on Tradelink and Amibroker and can offer a comparative perspective. I would say wait for a day for someone to answer this in this thread itself, otherwise start a new thread with Tradelink Vs Amibroker kind of topic.

There is a guy over here name tradelink and he is one of the developers for sure, he is the best guy to answer your question. Well I just look at their website again and there isn't any link to any commercial kind of website. The help should be only from their wiki and community.

do you mind explaining your religious belief in Tradelink? I have looked at the code and it lacked a lot of important components, while the core developers have been very dishonest even on their own thread site. I inquired about FIX connectivity years ago, they claimed it is done, turned out not even the skeleton was built. Are you one of the developers at Tradelink? It really is not that great of a software to be honest. Nothing is perfect right? But then you have a huge beef with all retail platforms for the exact same reason. So, why Tradelink? Why not coding up your own?

Gee, there are so many disingenuous people on this site each one of them with their little own selfish agenda. That is why, when someone asked why people on this site cannot work together, I said its because everyone has a different agenda. I cannot stand people with hidden agendas...and you appear to be one of them.
