You're dropdead stupid if you think a good person is an evil person because they do something evil. I don't care how much blather or phony indignation you add to it.
No stu, that was a perfect description of how "religion" (depending on what you mean by that) is manipulated, you know the manipulated version, not the real one. I suggest going back a few pages and re-reading.
You think a good person who does evil things is a good person!!?? Talk about dropdead stupid. Thing is Ricter there's a pattern here, from black and white thinking to drop dead stupid is what you don't seem to realize gets portrayed by yourself , which you then blame me for. That you can't see it, is probably a religion thing.
The manipulated version of religion? You mean the version you've been spouting throughout this thread. You no doubt consider YOUR version somehow is magically not manipulated but the real one.
Let me go back a bit, this started with me saying "Absurdities like out of context manipulative half truths that only suit to deceive people of an accurate picture to then try and formulate an opinion out of" as a comment on how religion is portrayed by some people. I haven't been spouting any "version" of religion, I don't have a "version" afaik and I don't call myself a Christian, after actually objectively doing independent research I found that what if commonly offered as criticism of scripture is unreasonable, does not pass any standards tests of logic and is almost always out of context. It is one thing to formulate an opinion based on full and complete information, not second hand, not rumors, not hearsay but first hand analysis backed up by corroboration with other people who have done similar analysis. It is entirely different to formulate an opinion based on the manipulated out of context half truths like "scripture promotes rape, incest, murder" and all the common misconceptions. The point is not to list all the distortions and show how they are false, the point is that it is impossible to do any accurate analysis with inaccurate or incomplete information. Just like any tool, any religion can be used to manipulate people but is that the point of the tool? Is that the intended purpose or is that what some crazy and crazier people are doing because they are nuts. If they could use religion, they would use some other tool. My point is that from what I've learned, real and true Christianity is about total and complete freedom. I know that may sound weird, but that's because everyone is exposed and condition to the manipulations and distortion that are used to enslave people, to put it bluntly.
have you even read the bible? scripture does not promote murder. it demands it. there is no misconception about what these verses say. most christians just rationalize the immorality of the god they worship by saying it was a different time then. Suppose you hear in one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you that some worthless rabble among you have led their fellow citizens astray by encouraging them to worship foreign gods. In such cases, you must examine the facts carefully. If you find it is true and can prove that such a detestable act has occurred among you, you must attack that town and completely destroy all its inhabitants, as well as all the livestock. Then you must pile all the plunder in the middle of the street and burn it. Put the entire town to the torch as a burnt offering to the LORD your God. That town must remain a ruin forever; it may never be rebuilt. Keep none of the plunder that has been set apart for destruction. Then the LORD will turn from his fierce anger and be merciful to you. He will have compassion on you and make you a great nation, just as he solemnly promised your ancestors. "The LORD your God will be merciful only if you obey him and keep all the commands I am giving you today, doing what is pleasing to him." (Deuteronomy 13:13-19 NLT) But if this charge is true (that she wasn't a virgin on her wedding night), and evidence of the girls virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her fathers house and there her townsman shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father's house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst. (Deuteronomy 22:20-21 NAB) Isaiah 13:16 Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be looted and their wives ravished.
LOL. You are funny. Either a robot or a personality disorder, I don't know what else to say. You go around and around in circles, I can explain, you don't listen, then you repeat the same thing just explained. Were you ever diagnosed with ADD or ODD? Anyhow, I'm not going to explain this time but try something different. Fact: you are taking this out of context and manipulating Proof: show us one quote from the New Testament that IN CONTEXT promotes murder Really, this is just so childish. You never respond like you are here to have a dialogue, you respond like you already know everything and want to win, this means you can't be wrong. That's a biased attitude to take, anti-scientific and the more you do it the more obvious it becomes. You want to play God (omniscient, know everything) while denying all scripture as a hoax or made up. You're HILARIOUS, the irony ... it's so much funnier than 10 000 spoons when all I need is a fork
so you like to ignore the parts of the bible you find unable to rationalize? why do christians fight so hard to get the ten commandments posted in public places if they dont apply anymore? where are they found in the bible? in any case jesus is not all cuddly and nice: Matthew 5:17 17 ââ¬ÅDo not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. ââ¬ÅBrother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death." Matthew 10:21
I asked you to "show us one quote from the New Testament that IN CONTEXT promotes murder". Do you know what the word CONTEXT means, should we start there. Can you tell me what it means to quote something IN CONTEXT versus quoting something OUT OF CONTEXT, please. You already previously asked where 10 Commandments were in scripture and I pointed out that if you had studied it then you would know where they are. Try using a search engine if you want to know! You proved you haven't read it or done any serious research, and you prove you don't follow along and you prove you specifically avoid and evade and then like I've noted, in an ADD type fashion, you just repeat the same thing. You are all over the ice, avoiding, evading, skating and dancing. You are fooling no one but yourself and those more ignorant. I know you don't see it at the moment, just remember it for the future.
