While those accusations may be true, neither ChatGPT nor Gemini revealed the "thought process" behind their answers before DeepSeek. Now both of these AIs have been upgraded to offer this DeepSeek lookalike replies too. You don't consider them as sad copycats? At any rate, I think the West needs to wake the fuck up from their superiority complex. Today's China ain't no China of yesterday. Their economy is big enough to stand on their own strength through in-house R&D. They don't need to resort to "copying" the West anymore.
He is, and he's good at it. Like him or not, he does a good job. His ceo interviews alone make him worth his keep. Imo at least. Anyone see that one last week with the ceo of WYNN? Pretty good. NVDA's right at $112. Flip a coin as to where it closes tomorrow. Only the whale algos know that one for sure. We are but spectators or hitchhikers. Market Shakespeare's.
The "Founder's" podcast had a great episode on Jensen Huang. Back in 2008, he repositioned the company to focus on creating CUDA for GPGPU computing and birthed an entire industry. Super impressed by the man and the organization that he built around him. Anyone long NVDA and waivering in your conviction, highly recommend https://open.spotify.com/episode/7EsBL3DyTexdZ433LXLpv4?si=09508823020a43ce "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt" ~Abraham Lincoln DeepSeek-R1: Incentivizing Reasoning Capability in LLMs via Reinforcement Learning
NVDA $40 off all time, made back in Nov, is not nothing. Price "trumps" whatever the funnys are at any particular moment. "You are what your record says you are" - Bill Parcells
I'm not sure what "upgraded to offer this DeepSeek lookalike replies" means, but I do know how to ask google which gives an "AI Overview": It sure sounds like similar evidence as in the perplexity.ai response. One could argue distilling is not copying (like "Attack Plans" are not "War Plans"), but without much doubt, DeepSeek used ChatGPT to lower development costs. That's true. For example, one doesn't need to buy a Tesla when a less expensive BYD does about the same.
I always laugh at how stupid people are when they claim there is going to be a competitor to nVidia any day now. AMD is the closest with their Radeon division, but they still can't even compete with nVidia's gaming cards. nVidia created the PhysX card industry so gaming in the early 2000s could even exist. Then came the massive advancement of gaming GPUs, the 10xx, 20xx, 30xx, 40xx and now the 50xx series of cards. The RTX 4090 card is the card to get if you want 120Hz 4K gaming. Then they created the whole GPGPU industry. Intel tried to compete with them but it was a horrible failure and they had to shut down that division in 2018. Cisco had competitors even during the late 1990s boom especially in the Gigabit optical switching industry.
Do you see the AI giving us a glimpse into its reasoning process before it spitted out a response (see below)? DeepSeek was the first. OpenAI and Google copied this approach from DeepSeek. That said, all I'm saying is that you shouldn't automatically brush Chinese off as ineffective knockoff of the Western IP. I think that would be a big mistake.
