use this http://keepvid.com/ there's a link you can bookmark that says drag this to your toolbar. Once it's in your toolbar, go to any youtube video and click on the link you just created on your toolbar. It downloads as an FLV file. You'll need to convert FLV to standard avi or mpg, or just an FLV viewer. FLV basically are flash video files.
