I hope those are not "used" face masks that had been worn by others... Now those little kids are picking up with their bare hands to put the face masks into the fire. Not Shown - Parents afterwards giving their kids hand sanitizers to clean their hands. Next month, they'll be back at Idaho Capitol to throw those small vaccination bottles into the fire. wrbtrader
Brazilian anti-vax politician has died from Covid-19 https://www.euroweeklynews.com/2021/03/15/brazilian-anti-vax-politician-has-died-from-covid-19/ A BRAZILIAN politician who proposed a law against vaccination has died of Covid-19. Silvio Antonio Favero, 54, who proposed a bill before the Legislative of the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul to prevent mandatory vaccination of the population against Covid, died on Saturday, March 13, a victim of the disease. He had been admitted to hospital last Thursday due to complications related to the virus, his relatives reported. Favero was a deputy for the Social Liberal Party, the same formation by which the Brazilian president, Jair Bolsonaro was elected president in 2018 and from which he disassociated himself last year due to differences with his leaders. He shared with Bolsonaro his doubts regarding the efficacy and safety of Covid vaccines and shared on his social media profiles the publications in which the Brazilian leader makes clear his denial of the pandemic, his distrust of vaccines and his dislike of social distancing measures. Favero wanted to “guarantee the right of citizens to decide whether or not they wants to be vaccinated.” The Supreme Court in Brazil authorised regional and municipal governments to impose sanctions on those who refuse to be vaccinated, such as making it difficult for them to access public services amongst other measurse. President Bolsonaro, however, has pointed out that vaccination is not mandatory. Brazil has accumulated 277,091 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic and reported that the four most lethal days had been between Wednesday and Saturday of last week. There are currently 11,438,935 people infected in Brazil and only 4.7 per cent of the population has received the first dose of the vaccine.
It will be interesting to see how well these vaccines even work if they work at all... IF you have ever been a hospital you know how f'd up they are. In some parts of the world, they must be totally inept.
First some background... Tanzania's President John Magufuli previously mocked the "efficacy of masks, expressed doubts about testing, and ridiculed neighboring countries which imposed health measures to curb the virus." He also refused to buying any vaccine while declaring his country "Covid free" back in June saying the virus had been eradicated by three days of national prayer. Well... COVID has now terminated John Magufuli's life. John Magufuli: Tanzania's president dies aged 61 after Covid rumours BBC - https://tinyurl.com/3fb67vdc Tanzania's President John Magufuli has died aged 61, the country's vice-president has announced. He died on Wednesday from heart complications at a hospital in Dar es Salaam, Samia Suluhu Hassan said in an address on state television. Mr Magufuli had not been seen in public for more than two weeks, and rumours had been circulating about his health. Opposition politicians said last week that he had contracted Covid-19, but this has not been confirmed. Mr Magufuli was one of Africa's most prominent coronavirus sceptics, and called for prayers and herbal-infused steam therapy to counter the virus. "It is with deep regret that I inform you that today... we lost our brave leader, the president of the Republic of Tanzania, John Pombe Magufuli," Vice-President Hassan said in the announcement. She said there would be 14 days of national mourning and flags would fly at half mast. According to Tanzania's constitution, Ms Hassan will be sworn in as the new president within 24 hours and should serve the remainder of Mr Magufuli's five-year term which he began last year. Mr Magufuli was last seen in public on 27 February, but Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa insisted last week that the president was "healthy and working hard". He blamed the rumours of the president's ill-health on "hateful" Tanzanians living abroad. But opposition leader Tundu Lissu told the BBC that his sources had told him Mr Magufuli was being treated in hospital for coronavirus in Kenya. When Covid-19 arrived in Tanzania, Mr Magufuli called on people to go to churches and mosques to pray. "Coronavirus, which is a devil, cannot survive in the body of Christ... It will burn instantly," he said. He declared Tanzania "Covid-19 free" last June, saying the virus had been eradicated by three days of national prayer. He also mocked the efficacy of masks, expressed doubts about testing, and teased neighbouring countries which imposed health measures to curb the virus. "Countries in Africa will be coming here to buy food in the years to come… they will be suffering because of shutting down their economy," he said, according to the Associated Press. Tanzania has not published details of its coronavirus cases since May, and the government has refused to purchase vaccines. On Monday, police said they had arrested four people on suspicion of spreading rumours on social media that the president was ill. "To spread rumours that he's sick smacks of hate," Mr Majaliwa said at the time.
"Since the outset of the pandemic, Fox has downplayed the severity of the coronavirus. The network's hosts have peddled misinformation about the virus and railed against restrictions put into place to protect public health. While Fox did air a Sunday night special in February devoted to the vaccines, the network's top host, Tucker Carlson, has most recently used his nightly show to undermine public confidence in the vaccines." Top Fox producer dies from coronavirus https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/22/media/fox-business-network-producer-eric-spinato-death/index.html Eric Spinato, the head booker and senior story editor for the Fox Business Network, died over the weekend, the network said Monday. Spinato's brother, Dean, wrote on social media that the cause of death had been the coronavirus. (More at above url)
‘Covidiots’ overwhelm Florida’s Miami Beach in Spring Break swarm https://globalnews.ca/news/7711097/spring-break-2021-miami-beach-covidiots/ Spring has sprung, the birds are singing, the pandemic is raging and the so-called “Covidiots” are flocking to the beaches of Florida once more, continuing a tradition that drew much scorn in the earliest weeks of the coronavirus outbreak last year. State and city officials in Miami Beach, Fla., initially courted the crowds, but they panicked on Saturday after hundreds of mostly unmasked spring breakers swarmed over the famous Ocean Drive strip. The city declared a state of emergency, set an 8 p.m. curfew and dispatched police to break up the party shortly after the declaration. Officers fired pepper balls into the crowd and arrested over 50 people, triggering fierce criticism about their tactics and creating yet another headache for city officials. “At night there is no question that it became a little out of control or a lot out of control,” Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber told local station WPLG. Gelber was responsible for setting the curfew. He also ordered that Ocean Drive be closed to all foot and vehicle traffic after curfew for four nights a week until at least April 12. “Too many are coming, really, without the intention of following the rules, and the result has been a level of chaos and disorder that is just something more than we can endure,” Gelber told CNN over the weekend. Spring breakers came out in force again on Sunday, sparking mockery and anger as images poured out on social media. “Today’s center of the #COVIDIOTS universe is Miami Beach, Florida,” one popular tweet read, along with an overhead photo of the crowd. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, has repeatedly boasted about the state’s lack of lockdowns or mask mandates, and has been encouraging tourism despite the pandemic. “If you look at South Florida right now, this place is booming,” DeSantis said last month. “Los Angeles isn’t booming. New York City isn’t booming.” Miami also recently spent $5 million on a major national advertising campaign to push tourism in the area. Miami Beach officials suspect the crowds are so large because of pandemic fatigue. “I believe it’s a lot of pent-up demand from the pandemic and people wanting to get out,” David Richardson, a member of the Miami Beach City Commission, told the New York Times on Sunday. “And our state has been publicly advertised as being open, so that’s contributing to the issue.” Police say they’ve seen gunfire, stampedes and rock-throwing during the days-long festivities. City Manager Raul Aguila said many people from other states were coming in “to engage in lawlessness and an ‘anything goes’ party attitude.” He said most weren’t patronizing the businesses that badly need tourism dollars. Instead, visitors were gathering by the thousands to party in the street. Miami Beach Police said more than 1,000 people have been arrested this spring break season, with about 80 guns seized. Concerns about racism have also swirled around the police response to the crowds. Stephen Hunter Johnson, chairman of Miami-Dade’s Black Affairs Advisory Board, compared the Miami Beach crackdown to the lighter treatment that spring breakers are seeing on South Padre Island, another popular party spot in Texas. “It’s the same group of kids that are in South Padre Island right now, except those kids happen to be white,” he told the Times. “We have to realize that we are definitely fighting an undertone of racism,” DeAnne Connolly Graham, a member of Miami Beach’s Black Affairs Advisory Committee, told the Miami Herald. She spoke in particular about local white residents who complained about “animals” and “thugs” invading their town on social media. Gelber defended the use of force during a public meeting on Sunday. “When hundreds of people are running through the streets panicked, you realize that’s not something that a police force can control,” he said. The Miami Beach scenes resembled the early days of the pandemic, when college-age revellers defied coronavirus rules to party in Florida last spring. “Covidiots” became a popular insult for such behaviour, particularly after one news report from the scene went viral. “If I get corona, I get corona,” one party-goer said at the time. “I’m not going to let it stop me from partying.” (Article has video and pictures)
