  1. Oh, I don't know. Maybe a smidge of it would be therapeutic for some ardent denialists.

I suspect if you catch the virus your overall tune will change. Reminds me of the topic of gun control in the US; the minute a friend or family member gets shot or the local school has a shooting a lot of people start thinking about gun control. You can chat all you want about this virus stuff but the cold numbers say 74,000 Americans dead and you can't excuse that because a good number of them were older or physically frail in some way. A modern just society cares about everyone.

Many weeks ago I read the first hand accounts of one healthy young adult who got the virus and what it was like. It's not like the flu it's pretty dangerous. So I took heed and I'm 100% behind the precautions no matter how healthy I feel myself.

Might time to shut up and stop spamming the board with this stuff. You aren't changing anything and the economy will eventually be fine. Adapt and stay healthy.

This board just seems to always have a few troll like posters pushing a rather strange narrative about current events. Not sure why "Jem" wants to drop to that level but it doesn't seem mentally healthy. I look at the stock market as a flag that most people know eventually this will all pass; just don't die or get long term damaged from the virus. Upheaval was coming to the US regardless in terms of social programs the status quo wasn't sustainable much longer; this event is helping speed along that process.

Even FOX is telling their gun nuts to tone it down lest they be all labeled crazy come election time:

  6. I do believe the car has left that bag.

Good video. The commentators adroitly pointed out how FOX was telling the demonstrators to tone it down with the guns, but no reference was made to toning down the swastikas or confederate flags. It's what these FOXers don't say that is telling.

I am pretty sure my wife and daughter had it.
It was probably the second worse flu my wife had ever had.

I don't wish it on anybody.

Really for the leftists ... why don't you engage on the science or data? Are you so small brained? Show us data that supports the lockdown of low risk groups outside of our biggest densely populated cities?

live in an affluent. I see the damage being done to peoples lives who had businesses and money. This shutdown is doing massive damage to those small business owners who create jobs.

My wife also works at multiple hospitals and I have friends who are doctors.

My view is influenced by de Prado's models vs Fauci models.
My view is influenced by the doctors who are extremely concerned about the condition their patients will be in after delaying medical treatment for months.

My view is influenced by remembering the massive hardship families went through when they lost all their equity in their home and contemplated bankruptcy, short sale, foreclosure. The divorces for friends... the hatred for each other when the spouse made stupid financial decsions.

And my view is shaped by what the Fed told us about the economy a few days ago.

I balance all that against the good the shutdown does for low risk and high risk groups.
I see lots of damage and no benefit for low risk group.
I see based on the models a few more deaths for people with Co - morbidity if they did not isolate themselves properly.

But... by opening up... there is a strong chance we see less deaths overall.

So frankly... when you model this out...
Only fools continue to favor shutdown... absent science or data to the contrary.

Now i respect those of you lefties who have a different view... fine. its a big picture understanding you may not comprehend or weigh differently.

But the leftists... throwing ad homs around because their brain does not understand what is happening. That is so ingorant. They don't even realize they have no science or data supporting their view that we should lock down low risk groups.

fuck you... I wrote about that here... months ago.
    do a search...

you will see I explained that I believed Covid was running around San Diego long before the first test.

Some of my daughter's best friend's in schoold are from China and their friends in school came back from China over Christmas. There was a big flu outbreak at the school and in the area.

Oddly when people got tested for the flu... it came back negative. My niece ,neighbors friends. Skiers from all over... had bad flus that did not register as the flu when tested.
My niece was tested mulitiple times at the hosptial pretty bad for two weeks. She said when the test came back negative... people started treating her differently at the hospital...She had no doubt they figured it was Corona... but they did not want to be the first hospital reporting they had Corona. That was happening at multiple hospitals in San Diego

so since I made my post above...
    I saw this...
Suicides in Aus... will exceed lives saved by lockdown by a factor of 10.

now.. how do you like your model... vs this model.
    I don't go breitbart isn't a good source...
breitbart provides a link to the story.

"The rise in the suicide rate caused by lockdowns in Australia is predicted to exceed deaths from the Wuhan coronavirus by a factor of ten, the Australian reported Thursday.

Researchers from Sydney University’s Brain and Mind Centre forecast a 50 percent rise in the national suicide rate because of the economic and social impact of government responses to the virus, which would drive deaths to as much as ten times higher than those causes by the coronavirus itself."

you can go to the source but its firewalled for me.

    https://www.breitbart.com/health/20...s-to-kill-more-than-coronavirus-in-australia/

now.. mroe from breitbart... in their article...

Already this year global deaths by suicide are significantly higher than those attributed to the coronavirus. According to the respected Worldometers running tallies, there have already been 374,225 suicides since the start of 2020, whereas the Wuhan coronavirus has claimed 251,898 lives, Johns Hopkins University reveals.

If the Australian research holds up for other nations as well, the global suicide rate could end up far outpacing the death toll from COVID-19.

The uptick in Australian suicides will be felt over a number of years, the Australian scholars suggest, and the coronavirus response could produce “a generational mental health crisis” resulting in an extra 1500 deaths each year over the next five years.

The university forecast has received backing from the Australian Medical Association, and Health Minister Greg Hunt is expected to present the results at the national cabinet next week.

Along with the sharp rise in suicides, the research also foresees substantial economic fallout from reduced productivity from the mental health effects of unemployment, school dropouts, and family crises.

According to Ian Hickie, Australia’s former mental health commissioner and the head of the Brain and Mind Centre, the annual rate of suicide could rise from 3000 to up to 4500, with youth suicides making up nearly half that figure.

“We are facing a situation where between an extra 750 and 1500 suicides may occur annually, this in addition to the 3000-plus lives that are lost to suicide already every year,” Professor Hickie said.

Deaths from mental health issues are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the long-term health impacts from the lockdowns, however, leading some observers to propose that “locking down whole populations in the hope of ‘flattening the curve’ was a catastrophic error, perhaps the worst policy mistake ever committed by Western governments during peacetime.”

For instance, national lockdowns have forced countries across the globe to close down TB treatment programs, which reportedly could lead to 6.3 million additional cases of TB and 1.4 million deaths over the next five years.
