Are you honestly trying to say that anyone who has ever bought alcohol or I’m guessing tobacco should not get a tax credit from the government? But why stop with “drugs” and alcohol, why not people who eat read meat or fried food? When was the last time you purchased a pie or ate birthday cake?
Is the parent or guardian spending money designated for the welfare of the children on illegal drugs and/or alcohol? Can the parent provide evidence that the money provided by the government for the benefit it of the children was fully spent on items that support the welfare of the children?
Show me anywhere in the tax code that it says the credit is designated for the welfare of the child or any other claim you are making. And for the record, if you had children in the past 20 years in your household YOU most likely received a child tax credit. I think the income limit is like $300,000 individually. This is not a “poverty program.” Probably 100,000,000 American families get the credit. For the record, here is the original bill for the child tax credit, there is no designation for the use of funds other than “tax relief.” https://www.congress.gov/bill/105th-congress/house-bill/2014?q={"search":["cite:PL105-34"]}&s=1&r=1
Government intentionally burns your house down, months later shows up with a Happy Meal, and we're all supposed to be grateful. Thank you, thank you so much Dear Leader(s).
