The reality is a MILLION did die so far world wide, and without restrictions that number would have been higher by some factor.
Compare 1 country vs Sweden, adjust for population size ofcourse Sweden 10.6Mil and hey it's the damn same. Restrictions, didn't help at all with the virus, get that into your thick skull, best it slowed it down maybe 5% on the spread, that's literally it.
Again, I'm no analyzing what Spain did. I'm saying what Canada did was pretty reasonable and it's all worked out fairly well considering everything going on elsewhere. All the negatives people keep listing on this site are barely noticeable in Canada if at all. Many months ago, when the US was clearly drifting into a crisis, I said hey look at what Canada is doing. Some states in the US took a similar approach others took more of an open approach like you guys keep pushing. And the latter got absolutely hammered by Covid. People could also look at Korea or Sweden but frankly Canada is a lot more similar to the US in nature. So here we are now and Canada is in a second wave but nothing out of control, and Spain/UK/some parts of the US are on dangerous ground again imo. So what was gained ? Eventually they'll solve or control it medically and the damage will be whatever is running total.
Canada remains well under 10K dead and we have a population 37.6 Million. Get those numbers into your thick skull. It's not 5% on any level.
And I'm saying, if you do next to nothing ie SWEDEN FFS and what ever Canada did, the UK/Spain, then you get exactly the same result, therefore there is no point doing anything. US has a shitty health care pay to stay alive system, not worth comparing anything to them, that's why there deaths are so high, pay for care or just wait and see. UK is not on dangerous ground, it's hospital uptake is small, it's deaths are barely increasing due to there died tested positive within 28days, doesn't matter how they die, 90% won't be covid related. The small increase is simply because they stopped shielding people about 6weeks ago, so they've came out and caught it, too soon, so yet again another total waste.
5% damn your stupid!! that's how much it slows the spread by. Canada on 0.025% that's low of range score, likely just haven't been pumping up the numbers or they've done a better job with care homes, 1/2 of UK's numbers are bogus so same at 0.03% pretty much. Didn't 1 area of Canada decide Covid is a hoax and told everyone to go back to normal and ignore all rules ?? 0.025% is IGNORE, don't ruin everyones lives for for 10years to come and kill countless others, remember 1.2% of population die every year so the difference is tiny.
I live in both Québec, Canada (primary home) and Chicago, Illinois (2nd home / vacation home) and home in South France. Yet, as soon as the Pandemic was announced...I stayed put here in Québec, Canada. Life has in fact dramatically changed here in Québec, Canada. Yet, I'm more dependent upon my relatives and friends to tell me about what they're experiencing in Chicago and South France considering I'm not able to travel there to experience it first hand. Québec, Canada and South France have completely different healthcare system than the United States. Both should / has done much better than the United States. The biggest difference is the culture and I knew on Day 1 of the Pandemic that the U.S. would do poorly... Socially Irresponsible. The other key issue on Day 1 of the Pandemic is the leadership that the U.S. would do poorly. Also, Canada and France both had a Pandemic plan from prior administrations whereas the United States abandon (tossed it aside) their Pandemic plan from the prior administration and then attempted (still doing it) to create one on the fly. Enormous mistake. The 3rd biggest difference is the inequality within the culture that the United States has the greatest issue with and lack a great understanding how it impacts the country during a Pandemic. In the United States you're going to see or have been seeing more civil unrest dealing with inequality / racism. Whereas in France and Québec, Canada the civil unrest will be more about every thing else and less about racism. My point, there's been dramatic changes here in Québec, Canada but the restrictions has been more tolerable by its citizens / residents...due to more socially responsible people even though Québec has the worst Covid-19 statistics than any of the other provinces in Canada. Québec is doing poorly within Canada because of a few culture differences that's very similar to France. wrbtrader
Just checked for Canada and it's actually below 0.8%, Spain and many european countries around and over 0.9%
Canada had the worst care home numbers in the developed world ( by late June 81% of our deaths were in long term care ), otherwise our overall numbers would be even better. Nowhere in Canada has Covid been declared a hoax. If there are negatives in Canada beyond federal debt they haven't showed up yet at all. Federal debt remains lower then US levels that can be paid down over time. Calling me stupid won't get you very far I'm highly educated ( STEM ) and almost everyone in my family is as well multi-generations. My wife has a Masters degree ( STEM ). My parents are from the UK university educated ( STEM ). Get the pattern yet ?
Yeah, we have LESS conspiracy theorists (hoax, bad flu) about Covid-19. In fact, of all the countries that believe Covid-19 is real, including Sweden, they've all done very well in their performance against Covid-19. These conspiracy theorists are already at work about face masks and vaccination. It's ignorance that they can not connect the dots to the fact the more socially irresponsible they are...the more restrictions that gets slapped on the all. It's one of the reasons why Sweden decided to only do a "Lockdown Lite" because they knew their citizens will do the right thing to avoid a "full Lockdown". Sweden is not off the hook...they do in fact have their own civil unrest but not related to Covid-19. Lets see what will happen if / when a vaccine in distributed in Sweden or the other Scandinavian countries. Also, lockdowns in other countries has damaged greatly the Swedish economy. The hypocrisy / irony is that conspiracy theorists in other countries (e.g. U.S. and U.K.) are bashing the science while at the same time approving and recommending the science used by Sweden in its decision to only do a "Lockdown Lite" with targeted restrictions whenever there's a flareup in Covid-19. Simply, its a hoax in the U.S. / U.K. but very real in Sweden while Sweden knows it has more socially responsible citizens that are taking Covid-19 very serious so that they can enjoy LESS restrictions. The world is falling apart...a lot of unhappy people resorting to violence and social media temper tantrums (name calling, personal attacks, conspiracies). wrbtrader
