I will take it no more or less seriously than I have been doing. I practice prudent precautions, have limited my general exposure while trying to do the things which are important to me. As an example, dining out, not important. Going to gym, important for mental and physical health. I do keep a close eye on case rates in my local and will stop the gym activity if a sustained spike would occur. My little Indiana town and general area have virtually no cases or deaths. Been that way for weeks. I stay in my circle of life for now.
The only problem there, of course, is if you are part of that spike. It's not always the other guy. But, yeah, I guess this does reduce the risk: My gym is open now, but there is no way I am going to go back before a vaccine or some other (big) thing, whatever that may be, that will give me enough confidence to do so. Admittedly, I consider myself very fortunate to have all the (minimal) equipment I need at home to do my regular workouts. I would be a lot less pleasant here at ET if that were not the case.
One of the things I gave up when we moved into a Townhouse earlier this year was the home gym convenience. Just no room inside without some serious reorganizing, and to put much of anything in the garage will require a set up and teardown every time I used it. As it is I can move one car out and do what I need to. No bench yet, but I may get one shortly. Will need some more weight too, and a space heater for winter. Pain in the butt, plus I actually like the gym atmosphere.
Finally got my test results back and it was negative for Covid. Now that I have that done I'm going in next week for the antibody blood test to see if I have ever had it. Was told I had to have the Covid test before the antibody test. My view on testing remains the same. Unless we're going to get tested every single day with next to immediate results, what good is it? Now I know with reasonable certainty that I was Covid negative on Monday, day of the test. I self quarantined all week so I can also say with reasonable certainty that I am still Covid negative as of this precise moment in time. That's nice too, but what about later today, tomorrow, the next day, any day moving forward? Unless I stay at home going nowhere I run the chance of exposure, as we all do. Unless I'm tested every single day it's a continuing unknown. We can do some things to reduce the risk, but it cannot be eliminated, not even close to eliminated, and chances are any of us are being somewhat exposed without knowing it. So my opinion stays the same, unless you're showing symptoms testing is worthless unless and until we can receive an immediate result, do so daily, and I don't see that happening.
HBO’s late-night host Maher had some choice words for the medical establishment, accusing them of peddling the lion’s share of fake news about COVID and the pandemic. During his Friday show “Real Time”, Maher explained how the medical establishment has been constantly putting out false talking points about the virus, the pandemic, and how to fight it. “A study this week from a professor at Johns Hopkins concluded that the lockdowns we all suffered through had little impact in reducing COVID deaths. Okay, that’s kind of a big one to get wrong,” Maher noted. Bye Bye Economy. Worldwide. Good Job. https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/meet-the-covid-variants.361711/page-20#post-5538414
