Considering Corona Virus started around January 2020, it is May 3, 2020 and people move around a lot even with the quarantine and shutdown, going to groceries, pharmacies, buying cooked food, etc. Common sense, would dictate that with its 320 million population, the US has a huge number of people, probably, in the tens of millions or more who have been infected and gotten cured of the Corona Virus and now, have immunity from the Corona Virus as well as no longer able to infect others. Use of masks and the hot weather will also, kill the Corona Virus. Of course, there are risks to older people especially, with health issues. You cannot remove the risk totally, but, we can open up the economy and minimize the risks with what we know so far. As more economies open up the world over, the lies of those with political agendas will be exposed for all to see.
While cities like New York may have a higher infection rate; most counties in the U.S. have a fairly low infection rate. Some have no infections at all. The reasonable estimates based on sampling indicate that the U.S. as a whole only has a 2% to 3% infection rate maximum for COVID-19 currently. This is 6.6 million to 9.9 million people maximum have been infected across the United States as of today.
I do not doubt that the reported cases are vastly understated. Just as I do not doubt that the mortality rate and the death statistics are vastly overstated.
Maybe it is. I think this is a nasty bug that targets the elderly. But guess what? All respiratory viruses are nasty and target the elderly. This one might be worse than your average run of the mill virus. Probably is. But it doesn't warrant dropping an economic nuclear bomb on the country and destroying the livelihood of its population.
The number of dead are under-counted from the perspective of most people who have studied the statistics.
How many were on their death beds to begin with? That is a very important statistic which is conveniently being dismissed
"On their death bed" would assume they were already hospitalized for another likely to be fatal condition or in hospice when COVID-19 broke out. Trying to claim that people who live in a care facility are on their "death bed" merely because they live in a care facility and may have some medical conditions is disingenuous - these people may have lived on for many years if COVID-19 did not kill them.
Within my little realm of the world like 10 miles radius, my circle of friends etc. My gut feeling is that the panic will far outweigh the outcome we may have been led to believe would come. lol. Basing all our panic on NYC numbers may have added to the panic. I'm not going by any numbers given, I'm basing this on my circle, my area and what I see.
Most people with a narrative to push, like yourself. You'll excuse me if I don't put faith in their (or your) propaganda.
This is total fucking bullshit if you are talking about the US. "When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?"
